I'm not sure it's comparable to any of these games you said. In fact, it's more like Etrian Odyssey than anything on the DS, except with an somewhat non-existant storyline(which is great), awesome soundtrack, darker atmosphere and the interchangeable graphics, which is a very nice feature. It's like a homage to those old 80's PC RPGs. I'm kinda biased towards 1st person dungeon-crawlers, though, since it's one of my favourite genres, but The Dark Spire is certainly one of the best games in that specific genre, IMO.

As see, I really hate Dungeon Crawlers. I just do, I gave many of them a real shot, but I just don't like them. I just googled an image, this is a very pretty game, just not for me.

Any other recommendations?

Oh well, it happens, not everyone likes the same genres. Still, if you can find The Dark Spire for cheap so you don't regret your purchase, give it a try. It comes with a CD soundtrack, so at least if you don't like the game, you can listen to the awesome soundtrack. Anyway, I would also recommend Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals, Soma Bringer and Ys Books I & II, if you like Action RPGs, and the Call of Duty games, since those are quite different from the console counterparts(but are good games, if you like more oldschool FPSs). I'll see if I can remember any other games.

I have Lufia, and Soma Bringer (updated my games list), Ys, I also don't like. I'm not a big fan of Action RPG's, so I'm kinda picky. I only really got Soma Bringer because it's by the makers of XenoBlade, which I loved. I might sell Lufia, and save up some money and get the original game for SNES (Lufia 2), it's apparently a turn based RPG, I dunno why they changed it for the remake.

Anything else I'm forgetting? If it's not memorable, it's probably not worth playing over the games I still have to beat in my backlog.

Michael,

Sorry I don't have any games to recommend because I believe that games that are not on your list are not worth being played.

That being said, I need your help! When you say that we should import Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem and play the english translation, do you mean that it's possible to somehow play the imported version in english on the 3DS ? Thanks for responding!

If the games on my list aren't worth being played, then why are you interested in Fire Emblem?

Yes there is a way to play Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, in full English on the DS and 3DS. Here is the link to the website which made the English patch, they finished it just before Christmas last year.

As for the ROM and the means to play it, you will have to google that yourself. I imported a Japanese copy of the game, so it's legal to play a ROM in Canada for me, but I dunno about laws in other countries

All the Ace Attorney titles.

Layton and the Curious Village was a great ds title. Great graphics, interesting story, and fun puzzles. Get it.

Retro Game Challenge
Feel the Magic Xx/Xy
Rub Rabbits
Contact
Solatorobo

Removed these from the top list after seeing you mention them previously.

Contra 4
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania Portrait of Ruin

Just wondering why you're not interested in Castlevania?  There are two styles of Castlevania and while my favorite games are the level based titles, these ones are exploration based like Cave Story or Metroid.  If you don't like the level based ones, if you like Metroid style games, you might like the exploration based ones.

I beat Feel the Magic, good game, but I don't need to buy it to keep it on my shelf. LOL They made a sequel, I'm sure it's good too, but I dunno. I only manage to beat a few games a year, if I add this to my list, I won't beat it for a decade maybe.

Not too interested in Contact, I've looked into it before, and Retro Game Challenge is alright, but nothing special.

As for Solatorobo, I looked into this game before, but I ignored it. It looks really good, but a bit too childish, and I read the difficulty is pretty easy. What do you think about it?

As for Castlevania, I think this just has to do with my taste. I don't like Westerns, so despite being an awesome game, I can't stand Red Dead Redemption. On the same note, I don't really care much for vampires, or anything that reminds me of 1950's horror. It's just too oldschool for me. I know the 2D gameplay is similar to any other platformer, it's just the environment which ruins it for me.

As for the 3D Castlevania's, they are better, but I'm also not a fan of hack and slash. It looks really good, just not for me.

Your list is awesome! I was only saying that the games that are not on your list are not worth it. At that point, I think it's better to put time and money on other consoles.

Anyhow, thanks for the info!

It's an action/adventure game where the gameplay has more puzzle elements to it.  You take on quests until the main quest progresses, which consist of you doing jobs here and there.  Your main characters robots primary skill is picking up stuff, so when doing puzzles  you might need to move something over to one place and jump on it to get to a higher point, or combat you'll dodge enemies attacks, pick them up and throw them at the ground or at other enemies to cause damage.  Bosses you might not be able to pick up and throw until they're stunned, so throw other smaller enemies at them, etc.  You can also upgrade your mech to have more defense, attatck, etc.  There are other ways to get around, like you might not be able to progress with your robot so you might have to get out of the robot, which does have some platforming parts to it.  You'll be able to fly at certain parts with your robot.  The game also has mini games here and there.  Story is okay, graphics are good.  Good game, but yeah.  Difficulty is extremely easy.

Oh, that clarifies things.

Actually I think the Prof Layton and Pheonix Wright series are pretty fun. They aren't Japanese, but it's a nice break from what I'm used to.

That's reason enough not to get it, most DS games are easy enough as it is.

Still good suggestions.
