Up until about 6 months ago, I didn't realise that if you have 1 Xbox with 3 accounts on it you potentially had to pay for Live 3 times. That to me was a joke, I couldn't understand it, to me that seems like extortion. Family Pack presume is the way around that.

The article on the front of this website states that one of the added features of new Live Gold was game sharing across the same console. This is the first time I even knew that there was any type of restriction (was there?) and if one person paying for gold bought a game from the store, then other people on the same bloody console couldn't play it? That's can't be right can it?

But then I heard the best bit of news after the Xbone reveal, the idea that an Xbox Live Gold account could be paid for once and all accounts on the machine could be used with their own names to log into and play games and online. An excellent feature, one I thought was standard anyway until not long ago. Much like AOL back in the day, you have 1 payee account and up to 5 emails from that 1 payee.

My only concern now is if this new 'parent' to 'child' account feature is being updated to the 360? This would sort the issue here.

Wait, so essentially you now only need one Gold account per console? That is quite the upgrade, I really like what MS has been doing (it even looks like they are going to have some form of family sharing as well now too)

this is brilliant, devious but brilliant. IMHO they are doing this to give 360 users an "incentive" to update faster. Its smart, im not even trolling, i think its smart.

Tell me, do you each have your own achievements, or is it tied to one account. My question is, once family packs become converted to individual accounts, are you going to lose all your achievements unless you purchase individual accounts for everyone?

Second question, which maybe you won't be able to answer. Are all family accounts tied to one payment authorization? As a followup, is your xboxlive renewed automatically?

Interesting that the date starts august 27th, is in preparation for new xbox1, and the free 3 months last until november 27th. Release date?

I can only guess that they're thinking it from the Xbox One side, where it will work as the PS3 does currently; not looking at it from the 360 (and plan to stay 360 at least for a good while) side.

They're seperate accounts, so it would be no issue. The account that made the Family Plan purchase is the Primary Family Pack account, and then you could add accounts as Secondary accounts that would receive Gold Live priveledges. But they were still seperate accounts.

Only the Primary account can add payment details. We can give Secondary accounts Microsoft Points allowances, though. Secondary Accounts can not add payment options (credit cards, etc.) but they can redeem their own Microsoft Points cards.

You can set the Family Pack to auto renew, yes. We don't though. Or, well, it won't matter now. We'll see what they set the options to when they convert it.
