We're retreading familiar paths now. I know you love this idea so much that you can't see how it would damage the company in the long term, IN SPITE of the fact that you have posted in threads discussing statements where the Boss Man explains why.

Iwata is very polite, especially when he would like you to understand something.

You have shown that you have no intention of understanding why this idea is terrible, and Iwata has officially expressed no intention of implementing it.

Well, by now it's crystal clear that the ultimate goal of all this is that Osc doesn't want to buy Nintendo hardware, but wants to play Nintendo games.

Yes, because this will make that happen.

I will buy Nintendo hardware for as long as they make it, but that doesn't mean I have to think they are perfect or that I shouldn't want more from them. My "ultimate goal" if any would be to find another Nintendo fan here that doesn't think "do the same forever" would be the best thing for them.

I think it makes sense, just look at Sega and Atari. but Nintendo needs get it together with the Wii U

Yeah, which is why I always have lower opinions of people who bring up the idea of Nintendo going multiplatform. IT HAS NEVER WORKED FOR ANY MAJOR CONSOLE HARDWARE MANUFACTURER IN THE PAST, why on Earth would anyone with knowledge of the industry think it would 'save' or help Nintendo?

People thinking the Nintendo IPs would still sell gangbusters if spread out on multiple platforms or Nintendo would be able to keep the quality while working on someone else's hardware really just show case how uninformed they are when it comes to Nintendo's success or how the current industry works. Even if the Wii U is doomed, Nintendo still has enough push from the 3DS and cash from their most recent successes (Wii and DS) that they could still release new hardware by 2015-16 that (Assuming like always tech costs decrease for certain chipsets and technology) is closer if not a match for PS4 and Xbox One.

You see, it's not that the industry thinks that's a good move for nintendo. It's just that most people (haters included) want to play nintendo games (because they're the best) but don't want to buy nintendo's console.

Iwata brought us the Wii U. Excuse me for not wanting to take his business advice as the final word.

Yet you are perfectly willing to support Sony's and Microsoft's decisions after their major PS3 and 360 blunders.

It makes more sense to me, and is being done by Sony, MS, Valve and Google with Android. Only Apple don't, but they make enough devices and have a strong following. The only way Iwata is right is if Nintendo can be like Apple, and this is very optimistic.

Iwata runs Nintendo, and you would run them into the ground, given a chance. Excuse me for not taking your business advice seriously.

If everyone else can do it without going down, why would Nintendo?

For the most part I think Iwata has a point, but putting mario on smartphones I think would be a good idea. Smartphone games and Console games are non-competitive in my eyes. One is a piece of crap the other is a gold standard. One has amazing access to the casual market, the other has amazing access to the hardcore market. If Nintendo made smartphone games, they could be used to advertise their main consoles products. Just call them demos of what's available on the Wii U.

Because Nintendo is the last of the Old Ones. Their business strategy is all about selling software to sell hardware, rather than selling hardware to sell software. Nintendo's goal is more contained. None of the others give a damn about what device you buy, so long as you enter their environment somewhere.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

The fact that Nintendo actually has to come out and comment on something like this gives you an idea of how much of a reality Nintendo going 3rd party in the not too distant future actually is.

In the past this idea would have been dismissed as an incredibly lame April Fool's joke. The fact that it actually has traction with people in the industry and that Nintendo felt the need to comment on it speaks volumes.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Nintendo can be like Apple (because they already were like them), so no need for optimism. Selling everything they sell at a profit shouldn't be a challenge for Nintendo with their future dedicated gaming systems. The sole reason why the Wii U is so bad is that Nintendo adopted Sony's and Microsoft's model.

Based on the above, why would you think that being even more like Sony and Microsoft would be a good decision for Nintendo when history proves that Nintendo is the company that knows best how to make money with video games? Nintendo should look at their own history, because before the 3DS and Wii U they didn't post losses, even during their worst times.

Why do you think Nintendo hates their most successful home console ever?...After the Wii´s huge success, it seems they didn´t learn anything.

The fact that you interpreted this the way you did speaks volumes about you.

I'm pretty sure SEGA was saying the same things back in 2000 that Nintendo is now... we're not leaving the hardware market, we plan to fully support the Dreamcast, remain calm, all is well etc.
