I don't think judging pre-order numbers is a good way to tell how well the game will sell once it's out.  It's more like a good way to tell if a game is on the road to victory, but no guarantees.

1. As of now, it's doing bad.

2. I agree with you.

3. VGC has been wrong on Pre-order numbers before.

4. Why did I make this a list?

1. I don't know

2. I'm answering your list out of order

3. Actually I'm not even answering the list, I'm just responding to the last one

4. Why did I respond to your list as a list?

Selling less then black and white? How did you come to that? black and white had the best opening to a pokemon game to date, with it's legs being cut short due to a new handheld

You should be comparing it to diamond and pearl, considering the both came out at the same point

and pokemon black and white 2 actually sold more then platinum

NDS | Pokémon Black/White 2 – 7.63 million

Making that table even more wrong

Phew, you're using shipped numbers to compare to what VGC said is sold. While it's very likely to be undertracked, there are still hundreds of thousands of copies on store shelves.

Those numbers are way to precise to be considered "shipped" and where in the article does it say these numbers are actually shipped? or any article regarding these sales for that matter

im just one of those people who think the franchise will continue to decline in the west

What a stupid thing to say, it's far from declining, the legs were simply cut short due to the 3ds

Gran turismo 6 won't sell as much as 5, guess that franchise is declining too right?

You're using a prediction to disprove something that is already set in stone. That's something new

Pokemon sales in the West (NA+Europe) in millions:

Red/Green/Blue: 20.16
Gold/Silver: 15.18
Ruby/saphire: 9.96
Diamond/Pearl: 10.65
Black/White: ~8.9? (Europe sales are somehow messed up so I used the 1.5 NA: Europe ratio to estimate Europe sales)
Black/White 2: 3.39

Obviously I do not see X/Y selling less than B/W 2 in the West but I can definitely see it selling less than B/W

Making that table even more wrong

I'm just saying that there is a trend for Pokemon sales declining in the West, with the only exception being Diamond/Pearl thus far. Black/White 2 being a bit undertracked does not change the point at all.

My conclusion is based on history. You denied said history that bananaking decided to use for his prediction. I'm just saying that this history is right, and thus there wasn't anything "stupid" about his post.

How can you say a series is declining, if your making an exception? You should know that the ds pretty much died in the west during 2012 which did halt black and whites legs

You cant expect a game to have legs if the console/handheld doesn't have legs itself

You're pretty much basing your entire argument on nothing, Because your trying to not count ruby and saphire, and you forgot or avoiding the fact that black and white was the fast selling pokemon game, and was tracking way ahead off diamond and pearl, till the ds capsized

And if you are following the trend, like you say you are, then you would realise that black and white 2 outsold platinum, which would break the trend would it not?

Lets hope no one puts out this fire!

This can also be contributed to xbox one being 100 more and thus people have less money to buy games. LOL drop the price Xbox....

I'm sure that has something to do with it, but the more obvious answer is that more people have pre-ordered a PS4 so it would be expected that more PS4 games are being sold. Some Xbox One exclusives are doing better than some PS4 ones, though.

Anyone time a publisher releases sales information, it is ALWAYS shipped. The only way we can know how much something has been sold (ie. from retailers by you and me) is whenever a tracking service (ex. NPD, Media Create, Famitsu, Chart Track, etc.) release numbers. They're the only ones that have this information.

Nintendo does do some internal tracking for Europe, but that's done in coordination with European trackers.

Once again, the numbers are far to precise to be shipped, and your acting like recieving raw numbers is impossible, and what about gears of war 3's first week numbers? they weren't shipped at all.. so that kind off ruins the always part off your comment

lolwut. It should be the opposite. Numbers can only be controlled by what it is shipped. You also need to understand that companies putting out press releases at milestones, so whenever they hit x million, "X game has now sold x copies!".

A publisher can also easily reveal what they've shipped in the first week. I don't see how that combats what I'm saying.

And yes, receiving raw numbers is pretty tough to do, which is why publishers pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for other companies to do it for them.
