Forums - Nintendo - The "Wii U Haz No Games" Label Gone In A Month?

I'd agree the GameCube had a better library through its first year.

Smash Bros. Melee, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II, Star Fox Adventures, Animal Crossing, Resident Evil REmake, Resident Evil 0, Eternal Darkness, NBA Street, 007: Agent Under Fire, Timesplitters 2, SSX Tricky, Prince of Persia, Beach Spikers, Super Monkey Ball, Phantasy Star Online, Mario Party IV, Tony Hawk 3.

vs.

Nintendo Land, NSMBU, Zombi U, Game & Wario, CoD Ghosts, CoD BLOPS2, Assassins Creed III/IV, LEGO City, Pikmin 3, Mario 3D World, Wonderful 101, DKC: Tropical Freeze, Monster Hunter 3G, Batman Arkham Origins, Rayman Legends, Zelda: WW HD, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Sonic Lost World, Scribblenauts U, Splinter Cell: BL.

The bummer for the GCN was that Mario Sunshine was a bit of a letdown for some people.

Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race: Blue Storm, Pikmin, Super Smash Bros. Melee vs. NSMBU, Nintendo Land and Pikmin 3. What a huge difference.

Here's how the GC launch was really: The system launched in May 2002 in Europe, it launched in September 2001 in Japan. Eight months had already passed. Luigi, Wave Race and SSBM hit in May, Pikmin in June. Despite the delayed launch for Europe, the system entered a software drought right away (and since Europe got the worthwile games in a bulk for its launch month, this meant that Japan and America had already been going through their own droughts).

The year ended with Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness and Super Mario Sunshine for the GC, the Wii U will see The Wonderful 101, a The Wind Waker HD remake, Sonic Lost World, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World, Wii Party U, Wii Fit U and Mario & Sonic. What this means is that the 14 months run of the Wii U will have outdone the 16 months run of the GC (The Wind Waker was released in Japan in December 2002, Metroid Prime in America in November 2002; decide for yourself how much weight you want to give to single region releases). This is without factoring in the Wii U's eShop which softens the blow of every drought.

The GC featured constant killer software, but only if we wipe all of its droughts from our memory.

and don't forget that wii u is also getting the big multis for 2013 holidays.

most of them, not all of them Battlefield 4 and GTA5 to name two.

PS4/One arent getting GTA5 either so that point is kinda moot.

gta5 not on ps4/xone either. and as you agreed, it has most of them. that's certainly positive for the future.

So it doesn't remind you of a certain Nintendo title that just released in which you command about a hundred creatures to fight enemies, clear obstacles and generally follow your bidding? Not to mention the bright and colorful art style and over-the-top characters that would fit right into something Nintendo would cook up?

The fact you have a ton of controllable characters doesn't make the game Pikmin.

pikmin 3 is a real time strategy game while wonderfull 101 is an action game. the only similarity between the two is the "up to 100 characters" part. the games play nothing like each other.

I'm not saying Wonderful 101 = Pikmin, especially in terms of gameplay. I'm saying that the art direction and general premise when you first see the game could easily pass for a Nintendo game, especially since it immediately makes you think of a certain one. I most certainly don't see how you, outlawauron, could say it "deviate(s) from what you normally see on a Nintendo platform" when that is just the sort of thing that would seem to be up Nintendo's alley: innovative concept, quirky characters in an surrealistic art style, nonsense story that takes a backseat to gameplay, big focus on utilizing the Wii U's Gamepad, short playthrough sessions that emphasize replay value over longer runs.

And they didn't even get one of those.

Spin it any way you like, the first 9 months have been abysmal. Go check what games came out on Gamecube in the same timeframe. Oh wait, that business model (which featured constant, killer software) has been completely abandoned.

You are complaining to the wrong person. I agree with you that the Wii U's first 9 months are horrible.

After all, I made the thread on being happy about Wii U's abysmal sales.

we're talking Wii U here and the other two not getting GTA5 doesnt make Wii U not getting it any less of a reality

The post said most of the big multiplats, 3/5 of the HD consoles arent getting it so holding it against Wii U doesnt make sense.
