"HD remakes are very cheap."
Of course they are... =/
God of war 1 and 2 cost 30$. Almost half the price of GTAV and nobody see the problem here ? Really
Someone told me to find a job, and I truly hope most of you have a good one.

| Sleepyprince said: "I don't think Sony can control the price on most of those games." Yes they can. Once you put a game on a plateform, the plateform owner can do everything they want with it. Think about steam explosive sales. |
So for example.
EA gives Sony Fifa 13 for £50 to put on their store.
Sony says "screw you guys" and puts it for £0 and you think EA won't have anything to complain about?! haha

You are getting 2 games for the price of half of 1, not just any games, games that were lauded in their time.
These "HD remakes" aren't being made for games that were throwaways in their time, they are made for games that had some merit in their time.

If you're so hung up on prices, just buy used games.

Exactly.
I buy them, original, physical, at prices higher than those. Too expensive for you? Tough. Save money.
$15 for Crash 3? Really? In the UK Shop it's £3.99, same as 1 and 2.
Hmm, pie.
How exactly do you know they don't cost a couple of million to make? Not only do they have to recode the game to be able to make it work on the PS3's architecture, but they also rework the textures to give it a HD facelift. In the case of FFX/X-2, they are making content that was never available before in North America actually available (not sure if Last Mission in X-2 was available in Europe, but I know X International content was).
The same is true for PSOne games. They have to do some kind of coding to make it work on the PSN, although all PS3s are backwards compatible with PSOne games.
As for the HD Collections being overpriced, go ahead and find some of those PS2 games. I remember that the PS2 versions of ICO and SotC were ridiculously overpriced by people on eBay, so being able to get both of those with upgraded visuals and trophies (some people like this) for only $40 (I got it for $25 close to its release) is a lot better. You can get a lot of the collections for a lot cheaper in 3-4 months if you would like, or you could spend more money to hunt down each individual game on its original system.

I think he was mentioning all three PSOne Crash games for a total of $15.

Actually the problem is different. Sony does decide about the price, it's the case for all online plateform actually.
BUT, they can't do what you say about put it for 0$. But that has nothing do with editor nor devlpers. The fact is, if Sony puts new games for 0, retailers can simply refuse to stock and sell ps3 system, accessories or Sony studios games. The day sony would not have to care about the retail market ( like Steam does for exemple ), things would be a lot cheaper for Sony customers.
*The psp go is a clear exemple of those kind of practice from retailer. Psp go was a "fuck" to retailer from Sony, then they simply refused to stock it.

Nintendo's eShop lets the developer decide the price. I think Steam does, too. Don't know about PSN or XBL, but it could be the same.
