Forums - Gaming - Pikmin 3 Screenshot Appreciation

I was expecting this game to look nice mostly due to the art style but I have to say I've been a bit impressed.

Besides the ground textures, that simply aren't meant to be viewed up close as that's not the view you have while playing the game, it looks really good. (This can also look worse in screens than it is in the game due to the use of depth of field blurring)

The lighting is great, the bosses look fantastic and the rain in Twilight River looks wonderful as flows on some surfaces, glistens on others, shimmers on others yet and covers the ground with a dull sheen that only becomes apparent when a flash of light illuminates the scene.

Pikmin 3 is a really beautiful game. Many things in it look so photorealistic. And it looks fun as hell to play. Its a shame the game releases so late in NA.

so late as of 10 days after Europe?

Yea

Yes, looks very pretty.

Shame most of the rocks have... 'sharp' edges, they take away a bit from the whole. But the vegetation though. D*mn! Looks amazing, really. One of, if not the best vegetation I've seen in a video-game. The characters and the water look good too. My favorite of the OP's pics, looks very realistic:

Its amazing that this is still a glorified Wii port.

I know, imagine a hypothetical Pikmin 4 complete built on WiiU .

The game needs to be seen in motion, on a TV screen, to really appreciate it; screenshots can't convey its 60fps smoothness and the charm of its animations.

When this game releases, I'll have to start shopping for a Wii U.

In 6 days then. ;)

Yep, I'm going on vacation the next week but when I come back Pikmin 3 will be released and I'll be itching for that shiny new console.

Signature goes here!

The ground and rock textures are the bad ones, but everything else in general looks good. At least for a Wii up-port. I wonder if there will be a Pikmin 4 considering this was developed in a long time for a small team.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

So THAT'S what an HD Nintendo game looks like! Cool.

I have Pikmin 3 wallpapers on all my devices and PC currently. Now I'll make a screensaver slideshow from the screenshots you posted. And I don't even own a WiiU.

Here's the one on my iPad:
