Another stupid article from English speaking media.

I agree with pretty much everything in the article. Except for the part about indies having control over the next gen. That is so completely wrong.
I think the reason this is causing so much aggravation is because of how well the 360 did in America. The USA Weekly chart has the 360 at about 16 million over the PS3 (at 40.7 million total). The 360 captured a large portion of the mind share in that market, and on top of that, a big chunk of the media coverage is from America. That has created a big group of people going, "Oh crap, am I really going to have to change brands next gen?"
Buying a console is a big financial investment for most people, and they want to be able to play with their friends. I think a lot of people were just expecting an easy transition to the next Microsoft console, but Microsoft screwed that up. It scared people, it worried people, and it created the shit storm we see for Microsoft.

That's true, but for all the people that made the 360 their number one choice this past gen, it feels like it. They are worried about transitioning to a new brand, so we get all the whailing and gnashing of teeth that we have been seeing. Like this article.

Sony is the main suspect with Piracy, there systems dont offer any means to counter it. Nintendo for many years have been countering Piracy by using different formats, MS tryed to introduce a policie for the XB1 (No game sharing and 24 hour Check) to counter piracy, but had to cancel it to keep the babys happy. Sony dont offer anything to counter Piracy. If we want gaming to stay around then we need to cut the crooks out, not welcome them into another generation of gaming. |
Nintendo had been paranoid of piracy for a while, but ended up being the one falling prey the most. There are so many people out there with hacked Wii's.

Piracy and used games are red herrings fed to you by the big publishers.
What is really killing gaming are massive, unsustainable budgets for games that don't deserve it.

You lost me at indies. Indies aren't the future of gaming. Thread is now over
I opposed MS "used games"-policy but I was all for the 24H check-in. Although some people may have problem with their internet connections at times, internet access shouldn´t be such a controversial question in this day and age. If a 24H check-in would allow new ways of sharing, I am all for it.
The mistake MS probably made, was to not make the console all-digital. That would have caused some stir but in the end move the industry forward.
I am angry with both Sony and MS for listening too much to a very vocal, but sadly conservative gaming community. In my opinion, their job is to move the industry forward, not just add better graphics.
"the future of the next generation is entirely in the hands of indies". I disagree. Most people don't play indie games and only a very small amount of them become successful.
If the future of the industry is entirely in the hands of indies, then the industry is automatically d00med.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
No. It's simple, we just don't like Microsoft or the XBO. It's not that we were angry.
Also, Indie's being the future of the industry? That's some hardcore trolling.
