The Wii U is indeed failing at this time

Too early to say for sure, we'll know for sure by the end of next year I think.

I would say it's a failure up to this point though. I mean X1 and PS4 are going to launch with what is probably a larger library than Wii U has managed to build in a year, and looking ahead to next years plans, MS and Sony seem much more prepared with big titles than Nintendo was their first year. They could have really capitalised on the head start, but failed miserably. Lacking first party. Practically no third party. Now it has to face stiff competition come the holidays. Competition with more powerful hardware, with no huge price advantage for the Wii U (PS4 us only 50 bucks more). Competition with bigger, more appealing games (Destiny, Titanfall....). Competition that has the cool "new" factor. Competition which will be much more heavily marketed.

Wii U is definitely in trouble if you ask me. They should cut the price before the holidays.

bolded: again with that lie? you people never learn.

It is selling 25k per week
Software sales make everyone cry
3rd parties in general are skipping it, even worse than the Wii
The best third party game in sales is less than a half million and it wasn't profitable
Retailers are starting to unnofficially cutting the price
One big retailer in UK is no longer stocking it

Yes, it is a failure.

Gasp!!!! I did not expect that from you. So totally unpredictable.

I was very excited with the E3 2011 Wii U presentation. Then in 2012 was like ooookkkk. And now very dissapointed.

Looks like the sales are similar to my sentiment: worse as time passes. Also, I think Nintendo is making big misteps like putting DKC as their big november game instead of MK8, or building excuses for their pathetic planification of HD development. Iwata mentioned during E3 2011 investor's meeting that they were ready for HD development and it will not take a lot of time and resources. 2 years later we see a 2D Mario that looks just ok, DLC for the summer and launch window games coming basically one year later.

Wii U is clearly a failure at this point.

Nice response...I would almost have believed you.  Except that I somehow keep seeing a negative spin in  most of your responses on Nintendo threads. *sigh* Maybe I just catch you on the wrong times when you are venting or being sarcastic right?

You people meaning....?

I wasn't saying that as a matter of fact, and since you apparently take such great offense to it, I suppose it was an incorrect assessment. It just seems to me like there are at least a great deal more desirable titles launching with the new consoles than the Wii U has received up to this point. More games that appeal to the general populous of gamers if you will.

You can call it a failure if even its heavy-hitters don't move much in a way of consoles. Since we haven't seen too many of that, no, I won't call it a failure as of right now.

"I mean X1 and PS4 are going to launch with what is probably a larger library than Wii U has managed to build in a year" this is what you said, you're not even comparing launches, you're saying the launch lineup for the others is better than wii u's whole library until november.

their launches are pretty much the same, a bunch of cross gen multis + 2 or 3 decent exclusives.

No I do not think so, They are picking up some speed. Lets see how this holiday does and then make a decision, even then I think Might be to early but maybe not.

Two of my threads got locked which reacted to the question as to whether or not the WiiU a failure at this point in time.

With the U out for 10 months and the competition not having rolled in, does it make any sense to call the U a failure?

WiiU is out and has a sales record, so people can project it.  The PS4 does not.  To defend the WiiU by taking a shot at the PS4 doesn't.  It makes some sense, based on the information, to project whether or not the WiiU is failing or not.  However, it is still a bit early.  But, one can end up forecasting based on past trends.  One can argue that the WiiU is failling into a more funded Dreamcast actually.  People base it on past trends, but also specs, and also forecast libraries and 3rd party support.  The WiiU looks weak in comparison, so people are writing doomed.

To early to call it so, but smells bad, even though is not really that important, Gc is my fav console with some of the best games ever if WiiU sells 10m and has amazing games do we gamers have to feel it like a fail, no.
