I think the topic of "concept vs. execution", even if it was poorly thought out in the OP of the first thread, is an interesting one. Because problems with execution is something you can overcome with time & effort; whereas problems with concept is something that can never get better.
So in the context of Wii-U, which is struggling worldwide at the moment, you can examine whether this is simply a poor time for the console that will indeed get better when the oft-quoted games come in terms of execution. Once Nintendo start doing better with the console; the console will start doing better itself. Then you can look at the actual concept of the console itself - is a tablet controller which isn't an actual tablet appealing? Etc.
But for PS4, we've only got one area to examine - concept. We know what Sony's idea for the PS4 is; from hardware to initial games. We have no idea what their execution is so far. There's nothing to go on for a good few months until the console is out there and we can see how it plays out.
That is, in my opinion, why your thread got locked, because it simply posed a question which could not be discussed properly. Whereas the Wii-U thread, although perhaps not worded to your liking by proclaiming "failure" so soon, at least opened avenues for discussion of comparing the two elements of a console.
(I know I'm well after the lock here, but I'd already typed all this so it might as well not go to waste!)
