Nice list (although, I don't hate QTE's).

Here's my personal pet hates for current gen games:-

1. Shoving MP in a game that does not need MP .
2. Highlighting objects. Objects that constantly flash.. telling you what to do or where to go. Breaks immersion imo.
3. Nonsensical or out of place QTE's.
4. Iron sights overly used in FPS games.
5. Overly long and unskippable cut scenes.
6. Autosaves.
7. Too many shooters needing to rely on a cover based system (TPS, FPS).
8. Repetitive fetch/kill quests that are needed to progress in a game. Usually in a form of a sidequests/missions to stretch the game out longer.

So if you take away all the noobifications. How will i beat the games? I speak for 6.999 billion casual gamers.

What do they want, polite melee kills? A Vulcan nerve pinch? I don't really get that one.

I don't have a problem with nice guys who kill people, either. Do people really want to play as asshole killers? No, they don't, because then they'd have little or not empathy with that character.

Dunno about the collecting thing. I ignore it if there is no purpose. I do love collecting weapons and useful objects, though.

QTEs are only bad if implemented poorly, in which case they can totally suck the life out of a game. I won't say no QTEs, just no BAD QTEs.

Claptrap proved that dubstep in games is a good thing.

... And, last but not least, the dominance of the FPS genre. You're getting old and boring.

Love, NintendoPie and a few other people.

Hush!  You don't even play on a system that has FPS games!

I very much think the FPS dominance thing is exaggerated.  It's the sales leader by far, certainly, but it's not like there aren't tons of other games being made.  Nintendo alone released 347 platformers in the last year alone!  This generation probably had the most diversity in gaming ever, so I don't really see much to complain about, except maybe that period when Japan stopped making RPGs for awhile.

I agree with 6-8
I would replace the others with things like tacked on MP, sales too focused on certain games every year (COD can be bi annual and let a game like Resistance 3 or Rayman Origins do better), and of course less of this online MP with no split-screen. Seriously why no split-screen when we can play with so many people online? Just put them both in there.

Sadly I think MP is here to stay.

I don't mind it being on games that make sense. FPS history is filled with multiplayer traditions, fighting games too but RPG/Adventure games?

There was no reason for the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, in anyway at all. Spend more time to make the game good than waste time on a needless MP which takes up resources and money, both of which could be better spent on the main game. If you do have MP in a single player game, don't have it affect the main game. Same reason why I never understood GTA online part.

But ME3 multiplayer was excellent, as was that of Uncharted 2. I can't really oppose something that leaves a brilliant campaign (which both games had) and adds an enormous amount of replay value.

I totally and utterly agree with that list!!! Funny thing is, Nintendo haven't done anything of those things listed...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I'll add hulking gorilla-men character models and absurdly overdesigned props and costumes. Everybody gripes about beige and bloom lighting, but these are even worse offences, IMO.

1) Absolutely, yes. It's a complete cop-out and replacement for proper environmental design.

2) Depends on the game. In something like TLOU, it makes perfect sense.

3) I would love for this to go, but I don't see how it's possible. The character walks into a room and everyone wants to kill him, so what choice does he have? Still, it's jarring.

4) This is pretty minor, so I don't care either way.

5) QTEs can be done very well. Look at Heavy Rain. But some games could do with less of those, yes.

6) I'm playing Tomb Raider at the moment, and yes, this is awful.

7) I think snap to cover is great. No cover shooter would work without it. No, the real problem is how many cover shooters we have.

8) There are games with dubstep?

So, a few good points, but mostly they range from impractical to impossible.
