I'm suffering from some Mario fatigue. This game looks amazing, but I just don't want to see Mario's greasy stache for a while.

Of course not. Paper Mario: Sticker Star (whilst being panned by many members here) has gone on to sell ahead of SPM and TTYD. This game could do the same as well when compared to Partners in Time. The only thing that is out of question would most likely be Bowsers Inside Story being beat by this game.

Also, is this just a prediction? Because "about 100'000" isn't exact. Would it be below or above that number?

Mario is ridiculously overplayed over the last two years; 2 NSMB games, a 3D one with another soon to arrive, two RPGs... this is not good brand management. No brand is immune to fatigue.

Yes, too much Mario in too little time! Nintendo needs to bring some more diversity, like a F-Zero game for example.
