Forums - Sony - Even retail PS4 will have max clock freq 2.75 GHz!

So it seems like even the retail PS4 unit will have the capability to be clocked at 2.75 GHz. For sure it will be underclocked at 1.6 GHz.. but for future that window can widen with a firmware upgrade.

Sony's PS4 dev kit passed by the FCC roughly a week ago, and now its consumer-oriented counterpart has passed through Uncle Sam's offices. Not only do the federal documents show the consoles' polished exterior, but they once again note a "max clock frequency" of 2.75GHz, teasing just what kind of horsepower sits inside the black parallelogram. Though there isn't much more to note in the agency's files, a duo of system labels marked with "Made in China" and "Made in Japan" hint that Hirai and Co. will be manufacturing the hardware in both those territories. Mark Cerny's wunderconsole won't be hitting store shelves until later this year, but it already has the appropriate paperwork to make the trip stateside.

Bwahahaha! Really? Guys misunderstood it the first time and now a thread like this is started, fantasysing a 2.75 ghz clock while totally ignoring that nowadays computers have several clock-sources.

Ok, I make it clear for you as you may not understand what you posted: The GPU- and CPU-clock won't be 2.75 Ghz.

Whatever, it will be the fastest console around, that's all I need to know. :)

Am I missing something?

It says the dev kit has that maximum clock frequency. What does that have to do with the retail box?

wow u understood my posts hidden cryptic message.. where did i say it will be clocked at 2.75GHz, or did u miss the part where i said "for sure it will be clocked at 1.6" or which part u dont understand of "Maximum clock frequence 2.75 GHz".. atleast with PS4 we are getting the power in the box unlike some cloud powered pony.

Yes the ablitilty to read and comprehend..... wow u guys surprise me!! o.o

So we are sure that this is about the CPU clock frequency? I am not up to date with the devkit thread.
If that would be true it's only the better

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Which hidden message? The whole thread is based on a false article (or assumption). Obviously you don't know where that 2.75 GHz is coming from while it was already solved when people discussed about it when this was "revealed" with the devkit. It's another clock...

Don't put Xbone in this talk, we are discussing PS4 here. Or do you want your own thread to be derailed? By yourself?
