In that case it will take a loooooooooong time to encode.

My cellphone encode in 1080p in realtime with a ARM processor...

I just make a test now... 6:32 in 561MB @ 720p 30 fps H.264.

I'm pretty sure 1080p is not that demmanding because this is a old ARM processor.

PS. Maybe is the GPU that make the enconde process in my cellphone.

Wat? Please provide me a link, this would be massive.

No link... just a normal Windows 8 core uses 25GB disk space... you will have three of them with optimizations... so just guesswork but I think it will be close.

BTW the PS4 reserves 42GB of the HDD for system data in the early devkits.

After 2 generations of MS-consoles you are still trying to conclude something from the desktop-version of Windows to an MS-console?

Do you want to bet? You win if the OS will be >= 20 GB, I win if not!

Ok.

If the 500GB HDD of Xbone have less than 445GB free space after formated (without play/install any game) I win, ok?

PS. Just to put facts on the table the Xbox 360 OS system data uses 6GB of the HDD.

Edit - Fixed... a 500GB HDD have 465GB of usable space... so 445GB means 20GB of system data.

Ok man, deal! What do you want to bet for? Something like sig-control? We also could just bet on nothing - the winner would just get the title of "The unrivaled reasonable-prediction-master" :D

You decide the time period... avatar e sig control.

I'm sure I will win that one

From official Xbone documents:

"³ Xbox One system software uses a significant amount of storage; less internal storage will be available to users. 500 GB = 500 billion bytes."

I believe the PS4 has a built-in chip for video encoding.

Id bet both are easily gonna reserve more than 20gig for the OS, its a no brainer for them, they can always give it back later, Much harder to ask users for more later when there HDD are busting at the seems with game content.

It has and I read that on GAF.

"I was talking to a third party developer recently who was impressed that on PS4 the recording feature doesn't use any main CPU/GPU/Memory resources. He theorised that it is done on a completely separate chip that taps into the output stream between the memory and HDMI and records the last 15 minutes of footage onto some stacked RAM (a method Sony already use for PS Vita)."

At least the Vita part it is right and I think did something like with PS4 too.

Avatar *and* sig? Oh ethomaz, that's a lot! And yes, I already calculated 500 *1,024^3 because when it comes to HDD-storage we are fooled since ever by the manufacturers ;) This will of course also apply to PS4.

Significant amount... hmm... I still take the bet, ethomaz! And I really hope I win! I'd say one month is ok and is reasonable.

But there is still one detail: What do we count - the size before the drm-changes or afterwards? We know that the first Xbones will require a patch, i.e. mandatory firmware update... And which region do we choose? I can think of some great differences between countries given that MS has a lot of exclusive deals with TV-stuff which is most likely not the same as say in Germany.

This is getting complicated... you mean some regions have Apps included in the OS install... yeah I saw that with PS3 firmware.

I think even without the required non-DRM patch the OSs will use 20GB of the HDD.. I mean without play any game too (because the game install data)... now the region I don't know.

PS. The HDD manufactures uses 1000x and 1024x base... I think that wrong but it is standard already.
