Bookmarking this, tbone51. I may even screen capture it, before you edit it :p

Edit: On topic. This might be one of the best titles for psvita in Japan. It's beyond obvious that there is a deal between Capcom and Ninty and that's all good and dandy. Sony was stupid not to do the same. At the same time, Sony needs to advertise the hell of this game and make sure it becomes the new Digimon (i.e. pokemon/monhun rip off that ends up getting a respectable audience- I know GE is not a rip off, but it may be perceived this way, which is fine as lone as it sells well).

The whole point of my post was that Capcom might regret allowing franchises like God Eater and Toukiden to build themselves up before it comes to the Vita.

I´m not quite sure if it will ever return (looking at 3Gs 2 million+ sales in Japan alone) and Nintendo´s intention to invest in the series (paid exclusivity, various attempts to grow the series in the West/paying for the servers and taking the burdon of publishing in Europe)

That's possible, at least in the portable space.  Still, Capcom has jumped around quite a bit with the series.  Anything is possible and I doubt Sony has given up on negotiations.

I honestly think the fact that 2 of their upcoming/released firstparty titles are MonHun clones (Soul Sacrifice and Freedom Wars) speaks volumes...but as you said: Nothing is impossible !

Sales ranks mean nothing. Don't you remeber the WiiU's sales rank after the Xbone reveal? :P

Nothing? No. Everything? No as well.

It's something. What EXACTLY that something is... That's much more difficult to quantify.

That said , I think it's fair to say this alone is better than anyone here expected GE2 to chart, so that by itself is a plus. God Eater 1 is easily the best selling hunting game after the Monster Hunter series, and with how much better 2 already looks than the first, and with how impressively Toukiden performed, probably fair to say it exceeded the vast majority of our expectations, things are pointing right now to GE2 being an incredible success for the Vita.

Will it outsell the first? Hard to say, I think with the PSP version tagging along, there's a decent chance.

I think the more important question, though, is will 2 further shrink the sales gap between GE and Monster Hunter?

If we take a look at the Monster Hunter released in 2010, Monster Hunter Freedom 3, (same year as both GE and GEB), we get 4.86 million in sales. God Eater Burst, on the other hand, pulled 660k (640k if you want to go with vanilla GE, though Burst is both closer to MHF3 in both sales and release date)

4. 86 million - 660k = a 4.2 million sales gap in favor of Monster Hunter. I feel pretty confident both MH's sales will shrink in comparison while GE's grows, albeit by a considerably smaller amount than MH's numbers shrink.

That's an interesting point.  I honestly hadn't thought of it that way.  I'd just assumed it was a case of Japan Studio following sales trends.  If you're right, it means that Sony, and possibly others, have a belief that MonHun won't make its way to Vita.

Still, we're talking about games that must have been in development for years.  I'm not convinced that something like that would have been decided that long ago, though it's certainly possible that Capcom and Nintendo have worked out something long term.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

basically your argument is based on "anything is possible" and "I'm not convinced". There is nothing up for discussion if that's the base of an argument.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Simple answer. MH4 is far longer up for pre orders and a lot of people already did theirs months ago.

Also reading this thread some people say that they should port MH4 to PSV because it would mean extra sales. So my question, why don´t we have the same users making this excuse for a 3DS port of God Eater 2. ;)

It's already multi-plat with PSP which is a larger userbase than 3DS.

Wasn´t the argument the more the better? If that´s your excuse why don´t you suggest a PSP port of MH4 instead since it has a vastly superior userbase compared to PSV. 75m to 5m PSVs.

If Nintendo hadn't "reached an agreement" with Capcom on Monster Hunter, I imagine MH4 would already be out on PSP.
