Forums - Sony - God Eater 2 Overtakes Monster Hunter 4 on Amazon Japan’s Best Sellers, Did The Vita Find its Killer Application?

Because by not having a Vita version, they're allowing other hunter games to build fanbases and market share.  Now if MonHon does got back to the Vita, it's possible that it might have lost customers to God Eater or Toukiden.  Sales are sales.  Because you sell 1M on one system doesn't mean 250k on another system is something to sneeze at.

Oh pokoko...

How different your argument would be, if Sony's and Nintendo's roles were reversed.

Not everyone is like you.

Besides, that's kind of a silly thing to say.  Of course my argument would be the same if the roles were reversed.  It would be a no-brainer that Capcom should have a version for the 3DS given how much larger the installed base is.  Really, that doesn't even make a lot of sense.  Did you think about that before you typed it?

The funny thing here is that you're calling me out, not because my argument is bad, but because--hell, I don't even know why.  Are you mad because I hurt the 3DS's feelings, even though I said nothing bad about it at all?   You felt you had to go strap your white knight armor on?  I don't get it.  I know you have some kind of immunity on this site for making off-topic, troll-ish comments but this is kind of childish.  If you disagree with my logic then tell me why I'm wrong, don't just drop some snarky, grade-school insult that can't be proven or disproven.  At least respect the topic somewhat.  This thread doesn't need to be going in this direction just because you want to make a personal attack.

Yes! God Eater 2 will absolutely destroy monhun4! Numbers don't lie! The Vita domination will be glorious! Let the ownage begin! Who's with me?

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Please don't insult the intelligence of the community. You have plastered your double standards all over this website, so everyone who has read a few threads about Wii U third party support will have come across your posts where you explain that third parties' resources are better spent elsewhere and there just isn't any point for them to make Wii U games. But as soon as the roles are reversed (which is clearly the case in the handheld market) you say things like "third parties will regret not putting games on the Vita" and "it makes sense to put RPGs on the Vita, because the 3DS already has enough of them, so you need to go where there is less competition for such games".

I don't disagree with the logic of "just because you sell 1m on one platform doesn't mean that selling 250k on another one is a venture that isn't worth it". I call you out for your double standards when it comes to these things. You aren't supportive of the aforementioned logic in the least when it comes to the Wii U.

Also, calling someone out for a double standard isn't even remotely close to being a personal attack. However, the condescending tone of your response is.

Bullshit.  Really, stop pouting, Nintendo doesn't need you to fly into defensive mode at every little thing.  Comparing different situations as though they were exactly the same is meaningless.  If you disagree with something I say about the Wii U then bloody say it in that thread.  Carrying it over to this thread is just stupid and disruptive.

Besides, what the hell, YOU calling someone out for double standards?  Serious?

Huh. Do people really think Wii U ports costs only as much as Vita ones? Wii U is an HD console, its development costs are WAAAY higher than Vita, 3DS or any other handheld. Hence much more risker.
Plus, hardly any of the ports sell well on Wii U, that is a fact. Ubisoft said that, EA said that and the list goes on.
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/196509/With_EA_money_talks_or_Understanding_where_EA_makes_its_money.php

Wii U ports don't make money, Vita ports do. Case in point, FIFA 14 is available on Vita, no Wii U.

Add to that, NO publisher has come out and said Vita ports or original games have been unprofitable/unsuccessful. Infact, quite the contrary has been stated by Ubisoft (on ACL sales, a Vita exclusive) and MAnY MANY Japanese companies (MAQL, Kadokawa etc.).

Wii U on the other hand has been openly bashed for not being a profitable and sustainable platform, even by long time Nintendo supporters like UBi.

On topic, GE2, despite with better graphics and better controls (well duh, OLED and dual sticks) will not even come close to MH4 sales. MH4 is 3ds exclusive not because of install base (which certain Nintendo fans will lead you to believe), its because Nintendo paid for it. Remember, the deal was announced in Nintendo financial brief in 2011 before Vita even launched, and before 3DS became a sales jaggernaut.

God Eater 2 has the potential to expand it's userbase without MH on PSP and Vita.
IIRC the first one is close to a million sales.

It could be 50/50 split or 60/40 split or 70-30 in Vita's favor with 3 special editions in plans for Vita.

unless you combine God Eater and God Eater Burst which would be over 1 mil. Otherwise, God Eater sold under 650K which is not close to 1 mil.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

I don't know that much about MH and Japanese gamers but considering MH sales on Wii U(and almost no boost for Wii U s hardware ales) the Monster Hunter Brand may be milked way too much =it really may be that god eater2 could compete in sales numbers until a certain leven ,not because of great sales numbers but only because MH has already passed the zenith of success and is going down.

lol, MH on WiiU is a port and its also available at the same time on 3ds. MH4 will be so massive in japan. It only looks like its going down cuz no new MH been out for awhile. And now that i think about it, MH for 3ds is the third highest selling game in the franchise and thats a port!!!! Imagine wat MH4 will do, First Week Sales are going to be at least 1mil

well-first you wright:"MH on WiiU is a port" (as explanation for low sales)

then you wright"MH is the third highest selling game... and thats a port"

Either I don't understand you or you are fighting your own logic.(zelda oot was also a port but sold pretty will)

Good for God Eater and all, but this is a good example of how useless Amazon rankings are. When something is out of stock it plummets like a stone because of how heavily Amazon weights the most recent sales.

god eater 2 might be the vita'a much needed game, but the only way for that too happen is that it needs to be a vita only game and stop with this vita/psp dual release . Being on both the psp and vita , i think hurts the vita ever more. Without it on the psp i think it could really drive the sales of the system to a much healthier level.
I think god eater 2 could over time break a million on the vita maybe, but it will still be about 5 million or so behind mh4 lifetime sales.

Why is this game a Sony exclusive?

Simple answer. MH4 is far longer up for pre orders and a lot of people already did theirs months ago.

Also reading this thread some people say that they should port MH4 to PSV because it would mean extra sales. So my question, why don´t we have the same users making this excuse for a 3DS port of God Eater 2. ;)
