Forums - Microsoft - Xbox Empire - New thread up soon!

looks like gears will never make it to Sony, like many have stated in the past. Making MS look very promising for the future, with Halo and Gears. That's some great news, with all other projects going on, looks like MS has got there shit together.

It's a rumour going around the internet. Not a fact.

It'll cost them $10 for a blu-ray player given they've bought at least 5 million of them at this point. Not sure how that would translate to a $100 saving for us consumers. Not sure how people here aren't getting that either.

Just saw a thread about MS needing to panic. Lol, one of the most successful console launches in history and we get retarded threads like those?

It hurts my head coming on these forums at times.

Yeah, the $100 price drop would be from the cost to produce the console + kinect going down over the next year, not from the the blu-ray drive being removed, so both models would likely be priced at $400 by Holiday 2014. All the bluray drive removal would do is offset the added cost of the 1TB drive compared to the 500 GB drive in the bluray model.

$100 after a year though? Even still, not buying it.

I can see how MS would make more money from it. Digital only titles cost about the same as retail without all the packaging and shipping but meh, grain of salt.

X1 didn't do as well as the ps4 so it obviously means it was a launch failure. Every prior this launch means nothing.

So must the financial situations of both companies apparently.

If MS should panic, does that make Sony and to a lesser extent, Nintendo DHO0OMED?

Probably more like $80 by the time of the price drop (presumably early November 2014), but Microsoft was making $30 per Xbox One at release according to a cost breakdown of the system, so they'd still be making $10 per console if they dropped it to $400, and the boost to sales during the holiday season from such a price drop would be more than worth it (the PS3 sold 3.42 million in November and December after it's first $100 price drop, a 270% increase over it's launch Holiday season).

Either way, I think the Xbox One will drop to $400 before Holiday 2014, don't know if they'll actually release the discless version though, supposedly they're only considering it right now.

I doubt it will be discless. Very much so.

Why would gamestop and stores like them sell it? They make no profit/near nothing from the sales of consoles. Just games afterwards.
