Hopefully you're right and it only took a small team of United Front developers a short while to develop it and Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars is still on schedule for 2014. I am a bit concerned though, Crystal Dynamics have been suggesting that portions of the game were rebuilt for next-gen consoles, it's not just a simple port of the PC version as if though the Xbox One and PS4 hardware were running in a PC. They claim that they redid all of the textures, introduced some new tech for the engine, had to recode TressFX to make it work on consoles, etc. All of that could have taken quite a a lot of time and developers potentially. Sometimes porting is fast and easy, other times it takes awhile (for instance Halo: CE Anniversary supposedly took over a year to complete even with two different developers working on the singleplayer and multiplayer). I just hope this was one of those fast and easy ports, because after playing Sleeping Dogs recently when it was added to Games For Gold and enjoying it enough to give it a 9/10, I'm definitely ready for Triad Wars asap. |
Sounds like marketing and PR to me :/ . Il wait for the digital foundry analysis to judge though but i highy doubt they needed to "rebuild" anything for the console version.
Especially on X1 given that it uses the DirectX API if im not mistaken.
