Besides that, they don't need to diversify. If they can make money with what they are already doing then that is what they should keep doing. For that, the cheaper the labour the better really.

Microsoft however are trying to sell a whole console, to do that they should have as much variety in their offerings as possible. People will look at Xbox exclusives and think 'why don't they have this genre, or this one?'. Nobody will look at a 3rd party publisher and think that since they are just offering software.

None of the hardware manufacturer make in-house JRPG. Nintendo used to do it, they don't anymore.

Third party makes JRPG for them. People buy PS because of Tales of or other Japanese exclusives though. They look at third party exclusives as well as the decive factor on their purchase.

Nintendo got xeno studio, now first party.

Also owns a big chunk of game freak.

MS needs to have better relations with jp third parties.

It annoys me for not including PvZ and KI, and putting Evolve at #12 ahead of much better games than it. I can understand  no mention of MCC because of the issues. GTA5 being #1 annoys me too for some reason.

I don't think it's easy. Because if it was that easy, MS, Activision, Ubisoft and every other big Western pubs would have one. Think about it.

Why would big wester publishers want one though? They don't want/need Japanese games, they haven't got a system to sell. If they only get western audiences that is fine and since they are multiplat they don't have to worry about the demographics of the install base either.

So without all that console/diversity/marketing and all the other stuff that MS could gain out of it the only interest for other western publishers is to make games and make a profit right? So why have a studio in Japan where the building prices and salary costs are high when they could just go to countries like China and eastern Europe and get cheap labour. On that note, I think MS should set up a studio or buy one in eastern Europe as well, they make some very good games and do it at a much lower budget than western European/US/Japanese studios could ever manage.

So MS should also not have invested in Mistwalker and Lost oddessy and blue dragon should not have been made?

Did you not read the part where I said about Microsoft needing diversity to sell their consoles? Their investments in Japan did sell a lot of 360s there, no doubt it helped sell some in the west as well. The insane drop off from 360 to Xbox One shows just how beneficial those investments were to sales in Japan.

I missed you guys too! It's hard not having Slade to pick on for 5 whole days.

Plus I missed out on the whole Uncharted delay news which is a shame because boy did I have some snappy remarks in my head when I saw all those "it's gonna be ok, look at this long list of random crap we still have!" threads. Oh well...the time has passed.

PS: Chill lurkers, I was sad too. I love Uncharted, so don't get your panties in a bunch.

Like real talk, we need to talk about Japanese games on the Xbox One.

I'm getting sick of this shooterbox that's done nothing for me. I honestly think the Xbox One made me play those terrible games too. If I see no LO 2, or something in that vein, then it's out of my house for good.
