Nintendo fans shouldn't put weight into a Earthbound port. Its.....a port, soemthing any of you could have played on a SNES emulator.
Announce a Earthbound sequel, and now you have something.

Is this why they kept region lock on their consoles after fans lobbied for it to be removed?

But this is just Earthbound 1 (Mother 2) from the SNES right? Wasn't there this whole push for Earthbound 2 (Mother 3) for the Virtual console? The game never localized, but there is a complete fan translation which has been offered for free.

They listen often, starting the NSMB series was one example, Zelda: TP was another. Other times they ignore their fans. Smash Bros tends to be a series all about fan service.

It's good that the wiiU is doing poorly now since they should start listening to the fans.

Well yes, maybe.
Then what about Wii U sales? Well you could say a majority of Wii owners were casuals... so maybe they really listening to the hardcore Nintendo fans. Please don't take offense to that, Wii sold A LOT to casuals. Not sure exactly how much, but the proof is in the pudding (Wii Fit).
Also, if any of you truly want a new Earthbound you better vote with your wallet and download Earthbound on the VC right now.
It's just that simple.

While I don't think Nintendo listens to their fans, region lock alone isn't enough to say that. Sony or Microsoft doesn't listen to everything, or rather, does everything the fans want either. And there is only a very small percentage of fans tht actually cares about region lock.

I cannot speak for people on this site but before Other M on other sites I constantly saw the same people saying Nintendo needed to advance its franchises and then when Other M came out and was changed, the very same ones calling for changed, used those changes as reasons why the game sucked and Nintendo had lost it. To some people out there it doesn't matter what they do as a company, its always the wrong move. |
pre-ordered it, beat it, loved it. Bring on the change. Just don't forget the ticket that brought you to the game.
Listening to your fans isn't always a good thing.
Most of the time fans are self-centered and clueless about what's good for business.
