Forums - Movies & TV - Go see Pacific Rim. It's pure awesome.

I like to refer to it as the Gipsy Danger power hour featuring Striker Eureka. What a disappointment. The other mechs had like what? 2 minute screen time?

Hey! This film is just 99% awesome and 1% baking soda! You tryin' ta get one over on me? Why, I oughta.....

Giant monsters crawl out of ocean and human controlled robots beat them up - how is that exciting? Cloverfield was exciting cos it was told from the perspective of helpless humans.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

I have to say, I did like it, it did remind me of a live action version (Done extremely well) of evangelion, without the stories, characters (or extremely convoluted ending). It was about what I was excpecting, which is pretty good, but not what I wish Del Toro would be doing.

However compared to Pan's labyrinth, and The Devil's Backbone it's not near that quality... but I feel that way about all his english releases.

i really enjoyed myself. Best summer movie so far.
i wouldnt go so far as to call the story absurd. its a classic story in science fiction. Not really any different than ID4 or any other invasion movie, the all have holes.
The things that bothered me werent related to story. the tanker scene you speak of for example. it would never take the stress of being used like a bat.

This feels like a Transformers movie to me. Only difference is that this movie is actually GREAT, unlike Transformers.

Awesome film, movie of the year for me.

Pacific Rim was pure fun at the theaters, and it was a blast to see in Imax.

Sensory overload, crazy fist-bump inducing action sequences, a "Story? We don't need no stinkin' story!" story, and Ron "Where's my god damn shoe?!" Perlman. That's a pretty terrific combination if you ask me.

Highly recommended as a fantastic popcorn movie. Nothing more, nothing less, but it's a heck of a good time.

So how does the action in this movie compare to other mindless action in movies like Transformers, Man of Steel, or The Avengers? I'm a fan of mindless action, by the way.

Hear hear, those were fantastic indeed.

OT: Seriously, if people tell me story is crap, acting is crap but the action is great it really doesn't make want to see the movie.
