Forums - General - Is Professional Wrestling Dying?

Pro wrestling was around for ages. It got big for a little while under Hulk Hogan and then kinda died off in the early 90's. Then, it exploded in the Attitude era and kinda died off after that.

If not for the Attitude Era being so big, things wouldn't seem so bad right now. The WWE is still one of the biggest cable TV and PPV ratings draws around. It's just not as big as it once was. The other promotions like TNA, RoH, etc. aren't big now because they never were big to begin with.

Those glory days weren't gonna last forever.

There's very little competition, and thus no one is trying to innovate. It's in a very dry and stale period. WWE especially is hit and miss nowadays, and mostly miss. Last night on Raw was pretty good though.

I'd just like to add that our interests change with time. Once upon a time, we all liked South Park, MC Hammer, Dragon Ball Z, Gangnam Style, or what have you. Things were once cultural phenomenon eventually give way to the next big thing (currently zombies, I guess). I predict the next big thing will be kitten racing.

Could be, but just don't expect it to die anytime soon.

It died after the Rock left when it was the Rock and Hulk Hogan. Best era for me was the whole Stone Cold & the Rock & DX

I only watch Women's Wrestling, but that also went down the drain (at least in WWE) the last few years. You can hardly call these matches anymore. 2 minutes of goofing around and then ending it with a Victory Roll (most boring finisher of all times). Yay for indies...

The WWE seems to be getting better. but TNA released couple of their stars like Tara, Matt Morgan, Doc, Taylor Hendrix, etc. Do you watch ROH? how about PWG?

TNA released Matt Morgan?  Is he still in good shape, physically?  If so, WWE needs to snatch him up!  Who have they released recently?

Tara

Luke Gallows

Joey Ryan

Hendrix

D lo

And now they are getting rid of prichard from creative, like holy s*** either they are going to fully revamp or they are dying.

Two guys I would to see though in WWE would be AJ Styles and Austin Aries, just imagine the matches those two could pool with wwes roster. Ziggler vs AJ, Aries vs Punk, would be just awesome

Pro wrestling lost its edge and became uninteresting after the mergers of the big 3. Then it died when the WWF had to change their initials to WWE... not to be confused with WE, which is the Women's Entertainment network here in the US.

Man, fuck baby seals and panda bears... nobody even thinks of them when somebody says "dubbya-dubbya-eff" anyway, only 'roided up freaks in boots and spandex.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
