Pro wrestling was around for ages. It got big for a little while under Hulk Hogan and then kinda died off in the early 90's. Then, it exploded in the Attitude era and kinda died off after that.
If not for the Attitude Era being so big, things wouldn't seem so bad right now. The WWE is still one of the biggest cable TV and PPV ratings draws around. It's just not as big as it once was. The other promotions like TNA, RoH, etc. aren't big now because they never were big to begin with.
Those glory days weren't gonna last forever.
