Miyamoto pissed them off!

Exactly, Rare made most of Nintendos core action titles.
um, are you sure the Source is even real? or if this got lost in translation or something? honestly, this doesn't seem like a very Miyamoto-ish thing for him to say, I mean, there wasn't even a *laughs* at the end

Crap? I beg to differ.
Luigi's Mansion: DM remained on the top sellers list for god knows how many weeks in a row.
Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say this is BS.
For one, no other major English gaming source is reporting it. After over a day, I figure someone else would have grabbed onto the story since it is extremely unlike Miyamoto and runs counter to his years of preaching and creating easy games for families as a whole.
Next, the main English site that is source by MyNintendoNews linked to this is Sankaku Complex which upon visiting is NSFW and its info is said to be suspect by those I have seen it mentioned.
Here is the Japanese link they claim to have gotten the info from, maybe someone has the time to translate it and confirm. Until I see some legit source claim it is true, I'll stick to it being a mistake or just false. .

"He sparked some controversy by saying that Japanese gamers can’t overcome the level of difficulty found in western action games and therefore they no longer want to play them."

Is this a joke article?

That somehow doesn't sound like something the guy who introduced options to skip levels that are too hard would say. I'm joining the "this article is fake" camp!
