Forums - General Discussion - YOUTUBE BUFFERING WTF

For the past year Youtube no longer buffers the way it is supposed to. Now I can hardly get it to play at all. I use chrome.... which you think would have no problems at all since Google Owns both. And to make it even more frustrating it will buffer sometimes but continue to freeze or skip even is if has buffered all the way. Does anyone have a fix for this or know what the fucking problem is?

if you have any browser addons maybe check that they are up to date or still compatible with your current version of chrome, I know older versions of video downloaders and youtube downloaders normally mess up on newer browser versions which cache differently.

Also the obvious one to check is that your version of flash is up to date.

Hope either of those helped since I dunno what I'd do without youtube tbh.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I have exactly the same problem. I'm pretty sure my connection is fast enough to buffer complete videos, but it seems Youtube only uses a small part of it, and doesn't want to buffer the video unless it's playing. Also what you said, if you go back or forward, it has to buffer again. I always thought it was the way Youtube was supposed to work now.

my only problem is everytime the player automatically goes to 144p.

I know there's an issue with Firefox that waits about 10 seconds before it starts to load Youtube videos and only Youtube videos, but you change something in the .doc file and it fixes that problem. Found how to fix it by searching for the issue on Google.

Maybe your issue can be found and fixed with the help of Google. I wouldn't count on it, because finding what you're actually looking for on the internet is usually like finding a needle in a haystack unless you already know where to look and what exactly you're looking for, but sometimes you find the needle almost immediately.

The same problem here.

I could've sworn this was done intentionally. It does suck that I can't load the video before watching it, like I used to do with all the videos.

It's weird. Youtube loads choppy, but porn videos are always super smooth. Anyone experience this?

On my phone though, Youtube always loads perfectly.

Have you check you ISP? Reports are both AT&T and Time Warner are messing with the stream because of disagreements between the two companies.

Plus, it runs Flash. I'm surprised in 2013 people are still using Flash. But Microsoft has dropped support of Silverlight (the thing that make Netflix run) and it's all blended into HTML5.

With the changes Youtube/Goggle has made to it, the flash, and the latency, I don’t use it like I used too.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
