Intelligent Systems Hitoshi Yamagami discussed how much Fire Emblem on Wii U would need to sell to be a worth while investment.
According to Yamagami, the series would have to sell around 700,000 copies in order to justify the development and make a solid profit.
Fire Emblem Awakening is nearing 1 million units sold in retail and more if you count digital sales. No previous Fire Emblem game on consoles has came close to selling 700,000 units, however, with the emergence of Fire Emblem Awakening, I’m guessing Nintendo could pull those numbers if the game is as good as FE Awakening.
Nintendo still has to launch Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem before a new Fire Emblem game on Wii U so they will probably look at the sales of that game and determine if it’s worth it.
