Forums - Nintendo - ZombiU Was "Not Even Close" to Profitable, No Plans for a Sequel

I wish people would stop using things like the 460k number on VGChartz as gospel. It's a guesstimate on the website's part, not official numbers, we know things are over-tracked by a large amount all the time.

The actual sell through could be 250k or something, who knows.

If Ubi Soft is saying they didn't come close to making money on the game, I'm inclined to believe them.

The actual number isn't important, just as it doesn't matter that we don't know Ubisoft's actual target sales number.

We know enough to confidently say they misjudged the market for their game and spent too much money on it if 250K-500K-whatever-number wasn't enough to make it profitable. They should've taken it multi-platform the moment they realized not enough Wii U's were owned to allow them to hit a high enough sales figure to turn a profit.

I don't think anyone expected Wii U sales to be this bad, not Nintendo, and not Ubi Soft. It's sales to date are Dreamcast-esque, which coming off the first Wii, which is the fastest selling game console ever (out of the gates) is stunning.

They did make adjustments and now Rayman Legends is a multi-plat game.

Wow looks like 3rd party support really pays out on the Wii U. Ok to be fair the game was kinda shitty so I guess thats their own fault. I wonder how Watch_Dogs will do on Wii U compared to other current gen systems. And how long Ubisoft is going to support it, and with what kind of games?

The Divison and The Crew aren´t comming to the Wii U I wonder how long they will bother to port Assassins Creed over

hows it going to do? is this a serious inquiry? its gonna get blown away. just most of the multiplats so far. THe real question is how it will do compared to the other next gen consoles, especially since the game will be bundled with some PS4s

I don´t think it is fair to compare it to the next gen games. The PS4 and Xbone versions will be far superior. Plus Watch_Dogs is the launch game to get for most people who are going to purchase any of those systems. I think the Wii U version will sell the least by far.

maybe, i think the PS4 version actually has more preorders than the WIi U one.

this, some people here act like they are experts when they are far from it. We all just guessing. Doesnt matter how much it sold, if they didnt do well for them then thats it

no you misunderstand, what EA was referring to is internet traffic, which they would be right in this instance. COD for WIi U has less than 1000 players weekly, 1000 that is pitiful for the most popular online game outside of WoW. YOu cant even find matches sometimes and that is not a EA game

No, you misunderstand.  He spoke about traffic but then for personal reasons seque'd into saying it's a box that's out of sync and not social.  That's not ture.  Also, COD has way over 1000 players online all the time, let alone in the run of a week.  You are quite simply wrong with that stat.

How many do you think are online now, or recently on average?

Yeah, 2806 online at this moment.

I actually wouldn't be all that surprised if Watch Dogs bombs on Wii U. It's not a big brand like Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty, and the PS4/XB1 versions will likely be superior in visuals/frame rate/resolution at least ... I don't see it doing well at all.

Well, it's up to Nintendo to fix now. I hope we don't get too many more 'please understand' comments from Iwata. I would much prefer 'Here's some games that'll drive our install base'. And no, E3 wasn't enough in my opinion. I read Iwata said that E3 was enough to alleviate the worries of Wii U owners. Well Iwata, as a Wii U owner, E3 just made me sad and angry.

Fixed it for you buddy!

That sucks. I'm going to give it a go when I pick up the Wii U either later this year or early next year. It looks interesting to say the least.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS
