I have about 78m. At work, so I don't have my records, but Microsoft cites about 55m through June 2011, and have shipped about 23m since then.

Seems in line with them having the same pricing and no real blockbuster games for the year driving sales, outside Halo 4.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Doubt it, I guess the new slim hindered it.

Shipments didnt really start until July, despite them saying it was available immediately, so they would have been trying to dry up supply.

Just to give you an idea how much that really is:

Good overal numbers but we can now certainly say that Surface flopped with the writedown on unsold inventory.. which is too bad cause the tablet market could use more competition

the first iteration has not dome well.

Their is plenty of tablet competition.

Windows 8 tablets and hybrids are everywhere, as are android tablets and of course IPads.

Surface does not equal windows.

I think they should kill RT.. useless, make a WP8 tablet... there is a mobile competition but no there isn't really a tablet competition

Good to see windows phones doing well, despite poor apps, its the best os for smartphones. Shame about Surface, it just seems apple and kindle have eaten up the market.
