Alright so I'm trying to buy a new Laptop right now and it will be used mainly for school but I'll also try to do a little bit of gaming on it.

Specs - Intel core i3-2350m CPU @ 2.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz

4096M RAM

Intel HD Graphics 3000 (Graphics Card)

Now, my dad wants me to get the surface pro but I'm not quite convinced on it yet. To me it just seems like a tablet but he thinks just because you can add the little keyboard extension thing, it makes it into an excellent laptop. I've checked it out online and the largest hard drive space I've seen is 128 GB and it's over 900$. Also I have no idea what the specs are on this thing, can't seem to find anything on it in the online Microsoft store. 

So, what do you guys recommend for a Laptop? I've had a Mac and HP (the HP laptop I listed before) and I easily prefer the HP over the Mac. I'm not much of an apple guy but if you find an apple product that's the best bang for your buck I wouldn't mind buying it since I really don't care what brand it is. 

I would say the highest I can go in price is 800-900$. Anything over 900$ is really pushing it BUT if it's a great laptop that would last me for years, then I'll think about it.

Edit: Nevermind I clicked on the link and busted out laughing. 

Get a laptop with a discrete graphics card (even a lower-end one). Without that you will run into games you can't reasonably play. Every other spec is probably good enough regardless of laptop.

The problem is I know literally nothing when it comes to graphics cards. All I can tell you is that Nividia and AMD make good graphics cards (right?).

Also, I'm guessing the HD Graphics 3000 card in my old HP Laptop sucks? I could somehow manage to run Skyrim on the lowest settings on it lol, albeit with a little lag when I was fighting enemies.

That's all you need to know. AMD or Nvidia discrete card.

Okay and does anyone have an opinion on the Surface Pro thing? What the hell do I tell my dad to convince him that it's not that great of a laptop...to me it just seems like a tablet.

Scroll down and take a look at the specs. Same specs (the ultrabook even has a bigger touchscreen), but costs not even 2/3 of the Surface PRO. Would be enough of a reason for me.
