I would suggest a Dell laptop. I really like Dells, they have nice quality products. I would suggest an XPS, which is what I have, but those now start at $1000. Instead I would suggest an Inspiron, specifically this one. It's even $100 off.
i5-3230M processor
6GB Ram
750 GB HDD 5400 RPM
Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

This is what I got, highly recommended, it's a tad pricey, but the thing is a beast, should last for years to come. It also runs just about everything on high settings with ease. It weighs like 9 or 10 pounds, so if someone tries to rob you, it can easily be used as a great bludgeoning weapon.
^^^I have a feeling that's just a tad outside the price range

Also in regards to HDD space.
Essentially, it's speed vs space, the Surface Pro will have a faster, but smaller "HDD" (It's an SSD), Laptops generally have far slower but larger Mechanical Drives.
SSD's are generally small and more expensive, but the speed improvements and low latency access times makes all the difference, every PC should have one, even your grandmothers!

Im telling you now, these people are getting you to waste your money. Many of these laptops are far overkill for light gaming. I do light to moderate gaming on my first gen i7 with a 5400 rpm hard drive and a 330m gpu (aka literally anything dedicated today will be able to beat it).
The $630 one I suggested earlier will easily do what you need and if you are obsessed with spending more shop around cause a lot of the deals being suggested here are overpriced.
Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

lol kidding =P. It is a good laptop but it's very pricey and also very big. I'm going to be taking it to school everyday and it will be a pain to walk around with it in my bag.

I'm really liking this one. Has tons of space (750 GB) which is good cause I usually download tons of movies on my computer. Great graphics card also and I was just checking out some reviews for this computer (3.9/5). It looks very nice as well.

Yeah, it's pricey and hefty, I take mine to school, it's not too bad to lug around in a bag, the only pain is trying to get it to actually fit in my bag lol.

This is another ASUS, similar specs, smaller, and cheaper (Though still kinda expensive).

Hey I found one that I think is a tad bit better and cheaper than that one, same brand.
