I don't agree with the Resident Evil or Final Fantasy picks, but then again I would play those games regardless of what they do to it.

I am sorry, but those franchises  going back to the roots is something a lot of people want, including me.  RE6 was too linear and too focused on action, while FF13 was a corridor, after a corridor, after a corridor. It also had an annoying battle system, but not as bad as FF12.

Well I take one look at Final Fantasy XV and it's quite clear that the game will contine to advance, not stay in the past. Resident Evil on the other hand could go either way I like all the Resident Evil games just like I like most of the Final Fantasy games. Also the bolded is your opinion plenty of people think the opposite.

I agree with RE, I want them to return to survival horror, however I don't think the others really need to.

Those are all my opinions, but I don't think anyone wants Star Fox to stay away from the SF64 roots. Let's be real now. Same can be said for Duke Nukem. Most people complained becuase it wasn't a real Duke Nukem game.

Final Fantast XII had a pretty good battle system overall, do not make as if your opinion was a well-accepted fact.  It was the only FF who got 40/40 from Famitsu, after all.

Famitsu? Are you kidding me? They have no credibility. Besides, reviews don't mean shit when the fans complain.

FF12 has an awesome battle system. also you complain that FF13 is linear, so was 10 the most popular game ever in Japan and the 2nd best selling Final Fantasy

As much as I loved RE4 and FFXIII, both series are starting to go off the rails. Going back to their roots would be a good idea, although it may be a little bit difficult bring the old mechanics of Resident Evil to modern consoles.

10 was not nearly as linear. It had side quests, exploration, and NPCs.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

People that want Resident Evil returned to its roots, need to give Resident Evil Revelations a try, it is a good balance of the older games sensibilities and some more modern control aspects.

As far as Final Fantasy goes... you are screwed. The Lunatics are running the asylum and not even Dragon Quest was safe. Now that they are "not making profit" they will go desperate and if Lighting Returns and FF XV both do well, expect more FF games like them. If they fail, expect more FF games on mobile devices. So essentially, all fans that want something close to the series first ten entries should know they have been abandoned by Square Enix and outside of cash grab ports or games made by previous personnel won't see anything like those days again.

You should probably also mark that this list was released back in Spring of 2006.
