Forums - Gaming - Is Next-Gen all about OPEN WORLD GAMES

I hope there are enough linear games around next gen. I do like them. Some open world games lose focus and it can get quite dull for me.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Infamous: Second Son

Driveclub(?)

Ass creed 4

Watch Dogs

Sunset Overdrive

NFS rivals

The Crew

Cyberpunk 2077

Mad Max

Plenty more... There's a lot but I don't know if there is really more than this gen.

Destiny?

yeah i'm missing a few

Better console specs is good news for games like Ass Creed. I was watching a friend play the other day, the frame rate was just awful. It's the devs own fault for putting such high priority on graphics, but now hopefully they can have both.

I hope not, oen world rarely have the quality of level design linear ones do.

I think Far Cry 3 was great.. Open world was great but the story itself could be played very linear if you wanted to.. You only needed to be in the open world to craft some equipment like weapon holsters and ammo pouches.. You could speed run it in 5 hours if you wanted to

I like open wold games. But time to time linear games are welcome. Too much of same thing is never good.

Open World is a nice aspect that can easily be applied to any genre if done right.

exactly. racing, 3rd person shooter, fps, adventure, puzzle etc...for now it costs much money to make them because of long development and as they develop more titles and new powerful machines arrive it only gets faster ,better and less costly.

How does a puzzle game work in an open world?

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Yes, next gen is the total and definite victory for open world.

I love open world.

I do enjoy some linear games too, but open world is so much more natural and immersive.
