I'm starting this thread to see what happened to Illumiroom.  Why have we not seen or heard much more about this device? This device had me jumping out of my seat. I have a room dedicated to gaming and would love this device in my set. I think this is what microsoft needs to show advantages in buying their system. If I was MS I would be putting this in every box.

I wanna know the release date, price, game support, Trailers etc... (Anything Illumiroom)

Are you insane? MS should pack in a video projector with every Xb One? You want them to be selling an $800 box, and not profiting?

I actually think their market research has probably found that illumiroom has very little mass market appeal because very few people have their lounges set up to be able to make use of it, and their lounges are where their consoles are set up. And if not set up in their lounge then it's set up in someone's bedroom.  Let alone the expense of having to buy a video projector. Illumiroom would be useless in my home, and 90% of other homes I've been in which has a gaming console.

It would wind up selling worse than PS Move in all likelihood.

Cool tech, but ultimately an expensive piece of equipment with limited useability in the real world.

I think we'll see it offered as an optional peripheral for the Xbox One about halfway through the console cycle, kind of like Kinect was for the Xbox 360. If it proves popular then, and if they can get the cost of the device down to a reasonable level, we may see it bundled with the X1's successor.

At any rate, I don't think we'll get a chance to purchase it until at least late 2017.

They did they tech demo with $1000+ projectors. Although you can get something to show in a dark room with a $200-$300 projector, it won't be as impressive. And it will be difficult to make a projector that works in all kinds of setups. Projector placement is usually quite finicky.

Maybe they'll continue with it when LED short throw projectors become powerful (3000+ lumen) and cheap enough.

It's in the same place milo is

Yeah man, where exactly were they hyping it up? I mean people on the net may have been a little but I only saw that one tech demo of it. I though of it as more a proof of concept. That said I think we may see it being offered down the road.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

how could you think it was in the Kinect "crap" like you said when the Kinect is facing you and that needs to face the screen.... ????

anyway I can see that tech being pushed by third party companies.... if it can be used with other projo than a XB branded one.... it would be a great way for companies such as Epson and other high end projo manufacturers to mainstream the purchase of cheap projos and create a new market to capitalize upon and counter big TV monitor manufacturers like LG, Samsung etc....

That is a good question. I will send Little Finger out to see what he can find.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I think its more of a concept at the moment, making something like that commercially viable, which requires a $400 console is not feasible this year. The illumiroom will be at least $200.
Only a few dedicated fans would buy it and they would lose a lot of money
