I'm starting this thread to see what happened to Illumiroom.  Why have we not seen or heard much more about this device? This device had me jumping out of my seat. I have a room dedicated to gaming and would love this device in my set. I think this is what microsoft needs to show advantages in buying their system. If I was MS I would be putting this in every box.

I wanna know the release date, price, game support, Trailers etc... (Anything Illumiroom)

Maybe Microsoft isn't ready to talk more about it yet.

This is actually a damn good question, Microsoft was hyping this up and I thought it would be rather cool for movies. It just kind of dropped off the face of the earth afterwards though.

They showed it off at CES.

I was thinking this could be close to launch. You think it's that far off?

It'd cost too much to manufacture to bundle with every console, they'd end up taking PS3 like losses with it.

However spending $500 on a console and then $200 - $300 more on a projector add on just doesn't seem like it'd make the average casual gamer want to buy both simply due to price.

It was shown off as a Microsoft Research project, not a consumer device. You guys are thinking waaaay wrong about what Illumiroom actually is.

They will probably release it in three or four years for the xbox

My goodness, you want that, and the Kinect to be bundeled? You'll have a $600 console, unless Microsoft wouldn't mind taking a huge loss.
