Forums - Gaming - Prediction: XBox 1 will win the generation (consoles)

"Kinect Box - Specs approximating the Wii U; Kinect 2.0; all the TV/Movie/connectivity stuff that's in the current XB One; $250 launch price; heavily marketed to the non-gaming audients, hence why ditching the "Xbox" name. That would have non-gamers buying it in their millions."

I think that would be a wise step in the right direction, especially if they could eventually get a base x1 to add later into the mix. If that was done I think MS would do a lot better in the upcoming gen of consoles.

Wow, I just read the OP's arguments and they were actually some of the worst pieces of logic I've ever seen. I'm more convinced than ever that the PS4 will dominate.

Wow, I just read this post and you are actually the kindest person I've ever seen on this site. I'm more convinced than ever that you're a fun guy to hang out with.

"Just for lulz" thread and 12 pages already, lol.

Really, i can't take it seriously, and there is no point in arguing over predictions, just wait and you'll see who's right.

I hope no one is actually arguing. I'm just discussing a topic, that's all.

I think ps3 had outsell all Nintendo home console expect Wii.It is imposible that wii u outsell ps4 due to 3rd party.

I don't think it's at all impossible. The PS & PS2 dominated because of overwhelming amounts of 3rd party exclusives. Sony was also very smart in adding CD & DVD features. The XB1 will stop Sony from being that massive ever again. (IMO) I could be wrong and PS4 might take it, even by a good margin but they won't ever dominate that much again.

Actually, before the Xbox One announcement, if you just said "Xbox" most people would automatically think of the 360. The first Xbox was always called the Xbox 1 or Original Xbox.

Yes, but the system was announced as the "Xbox" and the 360 was announced as the "Xbox 360". It would be like people calling the Playstation "PS1" when that's indeed not its name. People call it that now because they want to refer to the 1st system. The new system is officially "Xbox One" but why can't I just use a "1" it is pronounced the same and mean the same. Therefor, I'm not wrong calling it that.

At this rate the WiiU would be lucky to outsell the vita lol, the Ps4 will outsell the WiiU before the end of 2014 ill bet my sig on it.

I honestly wouldn't be all that shocked if Vita does outsell Wii U. Actually, maybe I should change my Vita prediction so it isn't last place this gen...I don't know. I do think it will be pretty close between all systems either way. (Besides 3DS, that will dominate all of them)

I don't mention xbox one at all.

All big third party games are already multiplatform the main reason why i think Ps4 will win over xbox one is the 100 dollars differences.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

If there is something to be learned from Wii it's that the $250 launch price was a massive part in its dominance in the important years of this cycle, because that was a price that non-gamers could think was worth taking a purchasing risk on.

I actually really agree with this! It is an excellent point. There is one problem with this though. Sony & Microsoft trapped themselves with the PS3 & XB360. They are still around that price so launching a brand new system for around the same and with similar graphics would kill their core following. Why Nintendo didn't launch for $250 again? Nobody knows.

I understand that you didn't mention the XBO but I did only to show that the 3rd party games are no longer PS exclusive. Back in the PS & PS2 days, Sony had most of the 3rd party support all to itself. That means every major 3rd party game would severely impact Sony's sales. Now that PS no longer has those games as exclusive, they won't have as much impacted because the sales will be more divided. They will still hurt Nintendo and benefit Sony but not as much as before.

Look just because you can't say either way what will happen, doesn't mean evidence doesn't exist to support a future conclusion.

The PC argument is grabbing at straws. PC has been doing more and better than what consoles do since the beginning of everything. Why would it change now? You're just throwing that out there and saying "that's your logic".

PCs are much more expensive (for the average consumer) and tend to get all sorts of other problems like viruses, etc. Consoles are not only optimized to play games, but their hardware actually significantly outperforms the same hardware in a pc. There are myriad reasons why that example doesn't work. And this has been the main reasoning why consoles have thrived, because they're cheap, and easy. They take out the complication of having too much, and simplify, which increases performance and dramatically lowers price by comparison.

Specialization is what has helped consoles thrive.

You're taking my argument of people buying out of convenience and specialization, and saying that I'm logically saying that nobody would buy consoles because of PCs. It's like the opposite of my point.

TV isn't a draw (to the casual audience) because the other products are cheaper and more closely align (by a wide margin) with what a casual interested in tv controls wants.

XB1 doesn't do the tv control significantly better than the competition, and where it counts (price) it's severely outclassed... it's not cheaper, and it's not easier. There are specialized products that do what xb1 does in terms of tv control for a lot cheaper, and a lot easier, and a lot smaller.

Oh, and don't forget that xb1 STILL needs another box in order to even USE the tv function...and it's a Microsoft peripheral. I mean, COME ON. So it's not just 500, but probably another 100, on top of live. If those numbers aren't looming catastrophically above you like a towering building beginning to lean over, I don't know what else to say to you. It's sheer madnees what they're expecting people to pay for.

These aren't opinions imagine. These are facts.

Some of these are facts indeed... What you predict for the Xbox One are just speculations, but it is okay, keep calling them fact if it makes you happy :)

And even if as of now, the PS4 future is looking good, Microsoft's vision is still a long term one and they proved, starting with the original Xbox and Xbox Live, that they can defintely have a success with new ideas. It is not everyone who blindly believe that nothing can change and that the best way to have a long term success is just to create an Xbox 360+/PS3+... Microsoft may fail miserably with this strategy but they can also succeed and be in a far better position than Sony in the living room. Just deal with it lol

Keep thinking I'm just some fanboy who wants whatever I say to come true. I predicted an always online console with streaming to offset lower end hardware and a steam like strategy nearly a full year before the consoles were announced. I also predicted that the 10 person sharing thing was bogus (because it was too good). I also said MS would NEVER have controlling DRM when the rumours were circulating because I said "it would absolutely destroy them". I'm not just talking nonsense. Binary solo gets it. It's over generalized, and not specialized in anything enough to draw any real interest from groups that are looking for those specific things...especially when those specific things are already represented in the marketplace.

I said, and will say again, wii won last gen with just one specific function. The other two just about lost money on their consoles. All you need is specialization in one aspect, and xb1 doesn't do it at all. Making everyone happy makes nobody happy.

Glad to know some of the things you predicted on internet forums actually happened; not sure why you assume that not having the same opinion make me believe that you are talking "non-sense", but again, understanding someone is different than agreeing and you seem to have a difficulty to get that

Thank you for sharing anyway; we will see in few years if Microsoft made the right choice or not!

Ps4 > xbox one > Wii U
I think most people expect to see those results

MS may win in the USA, but not by a big number like the 360 did, maybe 19 million for the xbox one and 17 for the ps4? I don't know.
Same with Mexico and Canada, since they're basically a part of the north american market.

outside the ps4 will outsell the xbox one
and well the Wii U will only outsell xbox one on Japan

Ummm "basically" part of North American market??? You do realize that North America comprises of 23 countries, right? and Yes that does include Mexico and Canada... and 21 other countries. Do kids still have geogrophy in school these days?? That Rick Perry education really paying dividents for you......

So? I am right they're part of the north american market, I am from Mexico so I obviously know my subcontinent.

God these people is annoying...

lol look because everytime I say something, you put a little dig in there. Like just previously, you said "blindly believe that nothing can change, or the best way is to just create a 360+". And previous to that, you said, "these are not facts, they are hopes", and also spun my logic into something completely different, saying "pcs already do what consoles do, so according to your logic...".

I'm trying to impart to you that I actually do research. I've seen the trends. I have a good idea about what will work. Currently, the xb1 is falling short. These are not hopes, they are outlooks. It's not so hard to see what massive competition it is up against, and how awkward this situation looks for MS. I'm not trying to prove anything to you, but to get you to look at it from a different angle. Currently, your stance is "I don't know". You're clearly not oozing with confidence. So take a minute and look again. The results shouldn't surprise you.

Also at OP the most powerful console never wins, but the one with the best(quality and quantiry) games libraries always have the advange.

That is subjective though.

not really, is just non deterministic, you can have a statiscal analylis of the average user rating of a game and the size of the library for a console
