I was just joking but the pad is one of the best moves Nintendo has made. There's three reasons why it's not selling.

1) The heavy hitters haven't been released and the lack of games.

2) The poor advertising to the casuals.

3) the anti Nintendo bias from haters.

Do you really beleave that they should have stayed with the Wii? The hater would really be going to town. But you know as well as I that the real reason for all the hate on the pad is because Nintendo created it. Had Sony did those same hates would be praising it like there is no tommoro.

The pad is just stupid. Explain to me the uses of it in game such that people who weren't going to buy the console will buy it.

It increased the console price by $100! Are you really saying people would have paid $100 for a Pad if it was standalone? If not, it's not worth it.

The "heavy hitters" will make it sell like a Gamecube. Even with Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash, Kart, I think you'd consider 20m a huge disappointment.

The lack of games is the biggest factor.. but there are actually a lot of games on the system. Just not ones people want to buy. And a large part of that is the Pad being shoehorned everywhere.

Bias from haters doesn't affect console sales at all, stop thinking like that.

The real reason for the hate on the pad is because it's a terrible idea! If Sony made it, they really wouldn't make it compulsory, and then it would die as many hardware accessories have.

Explain to me how it is stupid. Personally, after experiencing the pad first hand I would pay $100 for it. But then it would be just another add on that gets very little support. At least now we will see the full potential of the pad come out. As if we already haven't seen good uses of it. But anyway, they say playa's gonn play and hata's gonn hate.

My thing is this, is the Wii U an evolution of the Wii? Or an abandonment of it? The Gamepad does not resonate with the market as the Wii Mote has. It also brings the price of the system up $100 or more, during an economy in the shitter I might add.

Off-TV play may be of convenience to you, but to many others they probably have no use for that, or at least aren't willing to spend the money in order to have that option. In other words, I doubt if the GP was sold as a peripheral it would see Wii Fit like success..do any of you think it would?

I think Nintendo would be in a better position if they just fixed the few issues Wii had and continued on that path as opposed to doing what they are doing now. They abandoned their most successful console ever, and probably the most lucrative console ever made, for what? Third Party acceptance & appeasement? They didn't even get that.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

They didn't abandon the wii mote. It is still an option. Maybe they could improve on it and they still can. What I don't get is how people are complanning about the cost the pad adds to the system on one hand, then on the other hand complain that Nintendo is too cheap.

Also, the pad brings much more than just off tv play. The added cost is worth every penny.

This is something people just don't get. The Wii U's graphics are lame. I don't see how anyone can defend it and even try to compare it to something from the 7th generation (which doesn't include the Wii, by the way.) or anything from the 8th generation. There is something wrong with it. Something too bright, too primary, and too not bland.

Nintendo needs to step it up or stop trying.

Wait... the pad DOESN'T communicate with the Wii, and the Wii U is actually a NEW console?

No, no. The Wii U is so bad it might as well be a peripheral. The general consumers had it right, at first.

oh god am i that predictable?

I do enjoy my Wii though. Its the only console that actually stays in my living room. I am somewhat confused by the Wii-U. Why would nintendo bring out another "underpowered" console after the backlash they got from the Wii. Wii-U should come down in price, its out of the price range from the market Nintendo created for themselfs.

R u kidding me? God how much of a graphics whore does everybody need to be.  Everybody is so damned spoiled that nothing is ever enough anymore.  Wii U's graphics are pretty good.

You must think PS3 and 360's graphics are lame too then.

By the time PS5/Xbox 4 rolls around, suddenly the Ps4's graphics will be "lame".

God graphics whores are annoying.

There are way too many haters on this site.
