I was originally going to post this as a response to another thread, but to keep myself from derailing the thread more than it alread was, I decided to create one fresh to get onto the topic as a whole!

Now for starters, just to be fair, I'll outright say that I've never owned an Xbox product as their catalog of games have never distinctively appealed to me, and I'll be buying a PS4 at launch. Now to make a few points!
1.) I'll concede that Xbox One easily had the best lineup at E3, because they had more NEW GAMES to show, honestly if Sony had announced Killzone: Shadowfall and Infamous during E3, we'd probably have a different overall outlook on the show, while still admittedly being in Microsofts favour.
2.) Sony has far more, High Quality, AAA First Party Studios than Microsoft, this is a widely accepted (while still disputed) opinion amongst the gaming commuinity, press and interwebz included. The vast majority of these studios have also been announced to be working on their own respective PS4 titles, with 12 NEW IP's in development, in which I believe ONLY ONE has been announced so far (The Order: 1866).
Just a few of my personal, favorite studios whome haven't announced or shown their PS4 offerings yet:
- Japan Studio
- Naughty Dog (Extremely curious to see what this incredible can do with the power of the PS4 after playing The Last Of Us.)
- SCE Santa Monica
- Guerilla Games (2nd game rumored to be in development.)
- SCE London
- Media Molecule (Personally ecstatic to see what these guys come up with!)
3.) From what I can tell, most of Microsofts most acclaimed studios prematurely blew their load at E3, so I'd expect without question to see Sony have a stronger offering and showcase throughout the rest of the year at both Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show. It's important to have this kind of balance, especially going into a console release, to maintain consistent buzz throughout the year.
What I find extremely odd is that some people seem to overlook, if you look at it historically, that the Xbox 360 in it's first few years relied heavily on 3rd Party Exclusives, while Sony's most critically acclaimed offerings have always come from the 1st party. And in the age where 3rd party exlusives are dying, (true exlusives mind you, as while Titanfall may be coming as a, most like timed, exlusive to Xbox ONE, we all know the sequel will be Multiplat, and on PC, and we'll have a last gen-like debate all over again in that regards) Microsoft is going to need to deliver heavily on the First Party standpoint this generation to keep up with Sony.
All in all when you look at Sony's revitilized brand value in the wake of the Microsoft PR fiasco, it's $100 cheaper PS4 pricetag, launching alongside the Xbox One this generation, and all combined with Sony's extremely strong SCE Worldwide Studios game offerings, it's a far different scenario than last generation ladies and gentleman, and I can't wait to see what happens! It's an exciting time to be a gamer.
