Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox 360 strikes live TV deal with Time Warner Cable, promises 'up to 300 of the most popular channels' later this summer

it makes for a free cable box. pretty usefull to me. I have 2 rooms in my house without a cable box as i dont want to pay a monthly fee for each one. This will help me with that. So may not be usefull for everyone but some poeple will like it.

do you think you will not pay for it in Xbox?

Thats crazy. In gaming circles this may be a non event, but in real world this would be bigger news than anything they showed at E3...

same service you have on any tablet/computer, etc

it is not all channels and is essentially what they would offer through their TWCTV app/website, all the other stations would have their own apps, such as hbo go and the like

To bad I don't have Time Warner tell me when they get Charter now that would be great.

No. I already pay for live, there is no fee for my xbox everymonth like my cable box. I already do it this way with fios, this is just an option for people with time warner.

This is a massive deal. Imagine Time warner pushing Xbox one to it's customers. This will not only be advertised by Xbox one but also by time warner.

I don't see how this is huge though? Its just an app that's already available on Samsung TV's, and you need to be an Xbox Gold subscriber to get it.

I'm sure this is good news for some people, but I don't think its huge.

When we can stream cable channels without a cable subscription, that will be huge.

This app is available on every smart device, Tablets, smart tv, android, ios devices, laptops and pc.. The access for this app is free on those devices, unlike for XBOX . I've used this app on my Iphone and ipod but most on my pc. However, this app is very limited to what I want to watch (live tv) .. yet I have access to On Demand and best I can record a show to my DVR from my iphone when I'm away from home.
