I don't know if that got posted before, but apparently AMD is coming with a 10c/20t 7800X in the near future (possibly CES?)
https://www.techpowerup.com/300326/amd-wakes-up-to-intels-multi-threaded-advantage-ryzen-7-7800x-a-10-core-20-thread-processor-also-readies-ryzen-3-7300x
https://www.club386.com/amd-ryzen-7-7800x-allegedly-packing-10-cores-and-20-threads/

My take: If the 7700X drops in price and the 7800X comes at that or a similar (lower) price tag, this could certainly improve the value proposition of AMD - if Microsoft solves the issue with AMD chips having multiple CCDs that is!

I'd be curious to see the core config per CCX with the 10 core. Ideally it's best to have as many cores per CCX as possible. If it's like 5 cores per CCX sorta deal like how a 7900X is 6 cores per CCX. Then I'll be less interested.

If AMD can come out with two Vache CPUs, one thats 7800X3D and another that's 7950X3D. Then I'll be very interested in those. Cause currently, you have to choose between do you want to prioritize getting best multi-core performance and choose 7900X/7950X or the best gaming performance by going with X3D. I like Intels approach where you can have both thanks to E-cores but I don't like the power draw above 13700k.

Look like Igor Lab most likely found the issue with the adapters.

The summary is the adapters is using a metal bridge that connect 4 wires too the 6 power pins. When you bend back and forth it is easy for one or 2 of the wires to get disconnected from the metal bridge and now you got all the power going through possibly 2 cables which is very bad. It wont always happen but if the QA not good on the soldering to metal bridge it will.

Some of the power cables PSU makers selling that go into there PSU wont have this issue because they using 6 wires to 6 pins. removing that point of weakness. There was no risk on the adapters that came with 3090/ti also they was 6 wires to 6 pins.

It was the decision to go with 4 wires to 6 pins that meant if the soldering job was not perfect to metal bridge there is a major point of failure.

The entire article.

Igor's Lab has found the reason for the smoldering connectors:

https://www.igorslab.de/en/adapter-of-the-gray-analyzed-nvidias-brand-hot-12vhpwr-adapter-with-built-in-breakpoint/

The problem is NVidia's own adapter, with bridges that are too thin for the current and can break off easily.

Wow lol. Although with the restriction against China and Ai being largely GPU bound while sapphire rapids facing delays, not all that unsurprising.

Yeah, Intel really didn't have anything to counter AMD in Datacenter since Zen 2. And I doubt Sapphire Rapids can do very much, as due to the delays it will have to face Zen 4 Epyc chips now while first performance leaks showed Sapphire Rapids was just on par at best with Zen 3 Epyc chips. At best, it will slow down the fall of Intel's Datacenter and HPC business, but not making it a rising market yet. Maybe it's successor Emerald Rapids can reverse the trend, but if that one also gets delayed, which is highly probable, it will have to run against Zen 5, greatly lessening the chances of returning to growth in that sector.

Nvidia should be happy if the main fault is with the cables, not with the connector on the card. Anyhow this flimsy design should have not been approved for a 600W DIY system that runs under suboptimal situations quite often.

Alien Isolation mod adds four more Aliens for some reason
https://www.pcgamer.com/alien-isolation-mod-adds-four-more-aliens-for-some-reason/
In terms of games that hit the brief, Alien: Isolation is right up there. All you need for the best Alien game ever is a massive atmospheric space station, a few humans and androids, and one very deadly Alien hunting you from start-to-finish. With all that said, after the first movie the problem of a sequel came up and, as urban legend has it, James Cameron's solution was to go to the ideas board and simply add an "s" to "Alien".
Such is the way with Aliens: Isolation, by modder Zyr0511, a package of mods that pretty much does the same thing (thanks, PCGN). It aims to make the game even more terrifying and difficult than it already is, as well as adding a bunch of visual and AI mods that further enhance the pant-wetting potential. It has three ways to play, which seem to range from "very deadly" to "you're gonna die chum".

Renowned Sega developer Rieko Kodama dies at 58
https://www.pcgamer.com/renowned-sega-developer-rieko-kodama-dies-at-58/
The game industry has suffered a devastating loss. Rieko Kodama, the legendary Sega developer also known as Phoenix Rie, has died at 58. Her cause of death has not been specified.
As reported by IGN, Kodama died sometime back in May of this year, but her death wasn't made public until this week. Rumours began when a memorial message was spotted in the credits of Mega Drive Mini 2, before Sega producer Yosuke Okunari confirmed that she had died earlier this year. "As you understand it," Okunari replied to a tweet asking if Kodama had died. "We respected her."

War sometimes changes: Here's a free Lego Fallout game
https://www.pcgamer.com/war-sometimes-changes-heres-a-free-lego-fallout-game/
Fallout has been a computer game, a tabletop game, a mobile game, a YouTube series, and will soon be an Amazon TV series. What could possibly be left for the post-apocalyptic RPG?
How about a Lego game?
That exists now too, unofficially, thanks to YouTuber and game developer ThrillDaWill, who spent the past several months working (and not working) on a game that combines Lego with Fallout. You can see the results in the video above, beginning with an impressive mini-movie, the type you might see at the start of an official Fallout game. Then ThrillDaWill shows off some footage of the game, and even better, some peeks behind the curtain of its development, including a friend testing an alpha on Discord.

The fantastic sound of Destiny's new anime sniper rifle was years in the making
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-fantastic-sound-of-destinys-new-anime-sniper-rifle-was-years-in-the-making/
Destiny's a game with great feeling weapons, ones you're willing to spend hours of time grinding for, but the recently introduced and incredibly anime-assed Mechabre sniper rifle has made an especially big splash. Bungie sound designer Juan Pablo Uribe highlighted his work for the gun on Twitter, and was kind enough to explain some more of that process to us via email.

Bungie responds to player complaints over weapon crafting grind
https://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-responds-to-player-complaints-over-weapon-crafting-grind/
The latest This Week at Bungie post grapples with one of the Destiny 2 community's hottest topics: Weapon crafting. Specifically, the balance thereof. For an inveterate Destiny addict such as myself, the addition of crafting has been a net positive, enabling me to build a perfect arsenal, painstakingly curated with enhanced versions of the exact perks I want. For less committed (some might say saner) players, the process of tracking down crafting patterns and then leveling up the weapons can be time-consuming and tedious.

People are spending $40 on black market Modern Warfare 2 Burger King skins
https://www.pcgamer.com/people-are-spending-dollar40-on-black-market-modern-warfare-2-burger-king-skins/
The first time I've thought about Burger King in ages was earlier this week, when I learned that the fast food giant had teamed up with Activision for a Call of Duty promotion that's a real whopper: Buy a burger, get an exclusive operator skin based on fictional fast food chain Burger Town. My hopes were dashed (and my colon thankful) when I realized that of the supposedly 40 countries offering the Call of Duty meal, the United States is not among them.
Of course, Call of Duty players swiftly proved that if there's an exclusive goodie to be had, regional marketing disparities won't stand in their way. Soon after the Burger King/MW2 promo began, listings for the Burger Town skin started appearing for sale on Ebay. At the time of publishing, over 30 Burger King codes have sold for anywhere between $20-$40. Apparently the codes themselves aren't region-locked, so those outside the promo canopy can punch them into the official Call of Duty site to reap the rewards.

In a post to the game's subreddit, a Frontier community manager said that, "To ensure upcoming F1 Manager projects realise their potential," the game's next scheduled update will be the "last significant update that addresses player-reported feedback, or suggested changes and additions". The community was not thrilled.
