^So that's why the 970 and 980 hav gone up? Because people had to resort to buy used cards because they couldn't find new cards at sane prices?

That makes me sad.

They are still pretty potent cards all things considered though.

I still have a chuckle when I look at Radeon RX 580 prices and see my GPU for 50% more than I paid. haha

Ever since that 3.5+0.5 memory split was revealed, I've always been a bit wary of the 970 given that it need "special" drivers to make ir work fine.

But I'm with you on the ridiculous prices of the current GPUs. Let's hope that those new ASIC machines launch soon and make prices go down to more reasonable prices... until the next stupid crypto currency shakes the market again.

https://www.pcgamer.com/spyparty-the-cat-and-mouse-game-of-deception-and-murder-will-debut-on-steam-next-week/
SpyParty, "a competitive espionage game about subtle human behavior," has been around for a very long time: Development began in 2009, and we listed it as among the vanguard of "The Future of Indie" in 2011. It's come along slowly but surely since then through some major updates and a beta, and on April 12 it will finally make its way to Steam.

Squish levels until they work in playdough puzzle-platformer Semblance
https://www.pcgamer.com/squish-levels-until-they-work-in-playdough-puzzle-platformer-semblance/
Semblance is a pretty puzzle-platformer where your character—an adorable blobby thing named Squish—and everything else is made of soft, squishable dough. Well, everything except for the parts of the world that have been infected by horrible crystals that feed off the world's softness. Anyone who played with playdough as a kid can tell you that nothing kills the fun like hard, dry dough, to say nothing of horrible crystals, which is why ol' Squish needs to save the day by solving some inventive puzzles.

The PUBG machete is a sharp, shiny blade in real life
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-pubg-machete-is-a-sharp-shiny-blade-in-real-life/
The Tapanga Machete may not be the most dangerous weapon in PUBG—it is literally a knife in a gunfight—but it might be the most practical. It can mess people up in a variety of awful ways, yes, but it can also be used to clear vegetation, prepare meals, open bottles—and it can be made from just about any decently-sized piece of scrap metal you have lying around.

Blizzard teases big changes coming to the Overwatch Uprising event
https://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-teases-big-changes-coming-to-the-overwatch-uprising-event/
Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan and lead engineer Tim Ford revealed in a "super-special" Overwatch developer update video that, as we kind of expected, there will be more to this year's Uprising event than just the return of the Uprising brawl. In fact, Blizzard is changing the name of the event to "Overwatch Archives," to reflect its broader focus on the organization's past adventures.

Jeff Kaplan would love to make an Overwatch battle royale mode
https://www.pcgamer.com/jeff-kaplan-would-love-to-make-an-overwatch-battle-royale-mode/
By 2020, the world will be full of people hunting each other and occasionally hiding in bushes as battle royales spill out into the streets. They're already on our phones. So of course everyone wants a slice of the pie that's currently dominated by PUBG and Fortnite. Including Blizzard. Overwatch has already experimented with several different modes, from PvE horde romps to small duels, but a battle royale mode would be a considerably greater challenge.

No longer blessed with the patience or time to invest in flight sims, the free-wheeling aerial acrobatics of Above seem right up my street. It’s a top-down action adventure that tasks would-be pilots with soaring through the skies above a flooded world in a tiny plane. You’ll still need to watch out for the leviathans below, however.

Flash Point: Fire Rescue is a fantastic co-op board game that just made its way onto Steam. Think about a tactical maneuvering game like XCOM, but with firefighters, who are probably braver than alien hunters anyways. In any given scenario your team's job is to save people from a burning building—not put out fires. You're the people who go inside.

In March, Ubisoft announced plans to combat "chat toxicity" in Rainbow Six Siege by implementing a system of bans for players who use hate speech, including racist and homophobic slurs, in the game. Today it elaborated on its goals in a blog post, saying that it aims to "track negative player behavior, manage those that behave poorly, and eventually implement features that will encourage players to improve their behavior."

The Endless Mission, the new project from Never Alone publisher E-Line Media, was announced last week as a narrative-focused "sandbox-style creation game." James did a good job of describing what it's actually all about, but even with that the underlying concept was tricky to pin down: "It's looking to be an impressive, open toolbox for learning how games work," he said. But how will it hold up as an actual game?

The 13th Doll is a licensed, fan-made followup to The 7th Guest, a creepy FMV adventure about a local nut who gets off on killing kids that was released in 1993. It was announced and successfully crowdfunded in 2015, at which time it was expected to be out late that year or early in 2016. Now here we are in 2018 and it still hasn't happened, but the developers have announced that it's coming this year—on Halloween. Ooooh.

Last year, the Overwatch Uprising event delved into Overwatch's history by giving players a chance to experience Tracer's first mission: the King's Row Uprising. This year, the event—now officially named Overwatch Archives—returns with a new PvE mission: Retribution.

PUBG gets shotguns and melee-only custom mode

I once tried to win a bare-fisted chicken dinner, but fell short to a volley of semi-automatic rifle fire. Had my misadventures taken place within PUBG's latest shotguns and melee-only custom mode, things might've been different. Tequila Sunrise invades battlegrounds later today.
