Welp looks like Vega isn't looking so hot.. <- Wccftech.

Power consumption off the roof, and it looks like AMD are just playing catch up from an over a year old GPU (GTX 1080).

Looks like I'm good until Volta.

Okay so I've come down to these choices for a new monitor.

1080p:

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/24-acer-predator-xb241h-tn-monitor-144hz-(180hz-in-oc-mode)-nvidia-g-sync-1920x1080-1ms-dp-hdmi-blac

1440p:

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-acer-xb271hu-g-sync-led-monitor-165hz-ips-panel-2560x1440-4ms-1000000001-hdmi-dp-usb-2x-speakers-

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-asus-pg279q-rog-swift-165hz-nvidia-g-sync-ips-monitor-2560x1440-4ms-10001-dp-hdmi-2x-usb-30-black

I've only taken a quick look and I'm sad to say that I'd go with the Asus PG279Q (I say I'm sad because it's the most expensive one). It seems to give you all you're looking for except for being 1440p, plus it's an IPS monitor and the factory calibration seems to be quite good.

If you can, search for users opinions for more, and real, info about those monitors.

Curse you Nvidia and Asus, curse you all.

The 1080p Predator one has my interest, but yeah, the 1440p Asus one has what I'm looking for. The price isn't so bad, there are some that are onwards of £800-995. The only reason why I wanted to stick to 1080p was to max out the majority of game settings while still keeping well above 60fps (I know you can with games at 1440p, but not everything and I'd rather not have to dial back settings until at least 3-4 more years from now).

I feel like i'm going to buy an nvidia quadro for gaming.

Yes, journalism.. you drove me insane.

I just got received Fate/extella for the Switch too early before official release date July 25th and delayed my Splatoon 2 until next week :I

After reading the endless anti-common sense defense force, i've come to a newfound dislike for the Blizzard fan base. They've been defending Blizzard's move into slapping MT's into their games and basically nickel diming as much as possible.

I'm not sure if anyone here has been aware, but Blzizard launched SCII back in 2010, a game that was split up into 3 pieces and sold at £45 a pop. The Nova ops were sold separately as well as the announcer and Ai partner packs, basically making more money for them over time. The War chest is apparently designed in such a way that it's meant to "fund" the SCII E-sports scene.

I feel like I'm, one of the few within the entire userbase that knows what Blizzard has been doing for years and how they've been taking on Activisions bad practices, albiet using the goodwill they've earned over the decades to soften players up to F2P payment methods. I know Blizz is a part of Activision. I know very well that they aren't some poor indie company, struggling to make ends meet. I know Activision makes millions , if not billions with both of them combined.

There is no way they say that they won't pay for the e-sports scene, for a game that is theirs to run and theirs to make sure it stays alive and supported for years. They can absolutely afford to keep the SCII e-sports scene running for decades based on the money they earn yearly and the total in their bank, yet fanboys defend their "we cba footing the bill, you guys do it for us" excuse and crap on anyone who objects to it.

I am all for the e-sports scene being kept alive, but I'm not stupid to not notice Blizzard having more than enough money to fund them e-sports scene themselves. Eventually every other AAA company will take this route, saving them millions.

This is why I prefer digital goods, because I can obtain them within 45 mins to an hour and a half.

Waiting 2 weeks for a kit of ram is so stupid. Paying £116 to wait 2 weeks, yet all the other parts will arrive here by at least Fri, if not next Mon.

I have been playing sc2 since WoL and I am still continuing to play it. Nova ops was a bit of an urk but I still bought it since it wasn't the worst thing in the world cause you did at least get more single player story.

But after that, I stopped supporting the game complete as far as micro-transactions are concerned cause it really is outrageous how much they have. I think the reason for the war chest and sc remaster to a certain extent is cause sc2 is pretty much dying. It really isn't as big as it once was and the userbase is continuing to go down and of course, the balance changes have been horrible. And as that continues to go down, they are implementing more nonsense in the hopes of making more money before it goes down completely.

Now as far as money is concerned, while it is true activision/blizzard could fund those tournaments, if we are being honest, the investors won't exactly like that. However, that doesn't excuse their business practices.

All in all, oh well. I have mainly moved to overwatch as my main online game so if sc2 one day dies, I wouldn't care much. I just hope that another RTS takes its place that is more consumer friendly.

Sorry, but you are wrong. The 93 ppi of your Viewsonic VX3209-2K are the same as the 93 ppi of a "peasant 1080P 24''-monitor":

http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/f7d9228cd

But I agree with you, that 90 - 100 ppi are still a good density for Windows + games.

I suggest you use this: https://www.sven.de/dpi/
You may find that a 1080P, 24" monitor does not have a PPI of 93.

Oh, in my case, monitor size is key, because I don't really like big monitors. My main TV is 32", and I don't really understand how people can use something that big as a monitor, let alone those with 40" or even more monsters.

You place the display farther back. The perceived pixels per-inch gets better then too.

4K ain't a must, 1440p will do. So I'm very interested in the new monitors coming out this and next year.

Agreed. 4k is just to demanding on hardware. Even Titan XP users will find they will need to upgrade sooner rather than later.
I would never opt for anything less than 1440P these days.

There are far more curved G-sync 1080p monitors than non curved =/.

Curved sucks. D:
It's the new "fad" and I don't like it to be honest. It's making monitor choices more difficult.

To me it looks like they are using the same panel. So go with whatever is cheaper?

I wouldn't even consider 1080P to be honest. Unless it's 24".

I will probably be better off going with another Radeon RX 580 or two at this rate.

How can anyone defend Microtransactions? They are crap.
The only good Microtransactions are the ones where the game developer/publisher doesn't make ANY profit from them, where those funds are funnelled back into the community/e-Sports scene. And then they need to be non-intrusive.

Halo 5 for instance used a portion of Microtransaction revenue to fund eSports, but having Microtransactions tied into the gameplay was bullshit, step to far.

Regardless, StarCraft 2 is dead at the moment anyway, hoping for StarCraft: Remastered to revitalise the scene.
