He has some pints, tho. Those Kaby Lake chips shouldn't be there on Intel's highest end platform.

Agreed. The fact they can't use Quad-Channel memory is a big one.

At least on Socket 2011 the low-end quads were still capable of using four memory channels.

Oh, well, at least Intel's new 6 & 8 core processors completely destroy AMD's 6 & 8 ones in both single and multithreaded benchmarks: http://wccftech.com/intel-core-i7-7800x-7900x-i9-7900x-cpu-benchmarks-leaked/

The real battle comes when AMD releases it's HEDT platform and Threadripper, then it will be apples to apples.

Still, even if AMD had equivalent performance, I would likely still go Intel anyway, their boards/bios/software stacks tend to be more mature and feature rich.

^^^ I really hope it's good, cause it's still the first PB game I'm not very excited about - I guess that magic meets tech setting is really bothering me. I still intend to pick it up, but really wish they go back to Gothic - even if its only remaster/remake of one of the old ones.

I've read and seen a lot of it and even though I was skeptical it definitely does seem like a true PB game. In interviews they said how much Gothic is in there and apparently it's alot. I already know which faction I'm definitely going for. The Berserkers are the most Gothic section without all the scifi stuff. They also promised that there is a lot of customization. So while it looks very modern with minimap and stuff you will be able to tweak the game to have a real gothic feel again.

I'm definitely pumped, despite the setting.

Yeah, I turn minimap off by default, if the game alows for it...which means that all quests need have good explanations...well, just like every PB game, so I'm not worried about that.

I pretty much hated that Witcher 3 forced me to play with mini-map due to how bad quest info was (well, at least in Velen, I played Skellige without minimap since land design in Skellige reminded me much more of Gothics).

Unlock dozens of mutant superpowers with this Fallout 4 mod
http://www.pcgamer.com/unlock-dozens-of-mutant-superpowers-with-this-fallout-4-mod/
The mod is called, aptly enough, Mutant Powers, and it lets you burst into flames like the Human Torch, run at super speed like The Flash, teleport like Nightcrawler, suck the life out of enemies like Captain Vampire (who I may have just made up), and imbues you with all sorts of other cool abilities, like electrical attacks, energy shields, clairvoyance, ice powers, super jumping, and more. You can even transform yourself into a terrifying shadow monster like everyone's favorite superhero, Captain Terrifying Shadow Monster (also made up, though I'd watch the Netflix show if there was one).

The team behind Fallout: New Vegas mod Project Brazil—a massive fan add-on that adds a new vault, map, quests, and thousands of lines of dialogue from around twenty voice actors—released the first of its three parts back in 2013, and it sounds like we won't have too much longer to wait for Part 2. An update to the game's Moddb page reveals where the project is at now, while a (spoiler-filled) five-part video series shows off some alpha footage of that upcoming second chapter, along with the improved assets that will be making their way to Part 1.

Elite: Dangerous' second alien encounter has been discovered
http://www.pcgamer.com/elite-dangerous-second-alien-encounter-has-been-discovered/
Around half-a-year ago, players finally started to come across the long-teased aliens of Elite: Dangerous, after this astonishing first encounter with the frightening Thargoid species. It was an event that was reproducible, with a bit of persistence, and a pinch of luck, and the same is true of humanity's second encounter with the eerie Thargoids, which occurred recently. It's not clear who the very first player/players were to make second contact with the aliens, but one of the first was seemingly YouTuber Mass_Locked Mafia, who details how that encounter went down in the following video.

Devolver Digital cancels its E3 'Indie Picnic' event
http://www.pcgamer.com/devolver-digital-cancels-its-e3-indie-picnic-event/
Devolver Digital, the publisher behind games including Genital Jousting, Strafe, and the upcoming Ape Out, said in May that its annual parking lot display at this year's E3 would include a showcase of "artisanal indie games [and] music" called the Indie Picnic. Befitting the name, the area would also feature food, "cold beverages," and even some carnival games. It sounds like a good time. So it's a real shame that Devolver has been forced to pull the plug on the whole thing.

>>What a shame.

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-long-journey-home-gets-a-new-more-forgiving-story-mode-option/
Daedalic has added a new "Story Mode" difficulty that promises to dial back the danger significantly. The galaxy as a whole is considerably less threatening in the new mode, the lander is much tougher and uses less fuel, planetary hazards will be reduced, and resources are more abundant, more valuable when sold, and more effective when used. Ships and equipment won't wear out so quickly, planetary orbit will be easier to achieve, and the non-human population of the galaxy won't be quite so dickish when you meet them.

However, after seeing the latest video, I think it's a game to watch with both eyes wide open, and with no blinking. The latest Production Update reveals the current state of the Die Hard-esque infiltration game set in a simulated skyscraper, and it appears to have come on leaps and bounds since the early trailers I remember watching a couple of years ago.

Whether you've already played it or have yet to try it out at all, it seems like a good time to jump in as a free update called the Up-Armored Edition has been released, and developer Stellar Jockeys is celebrating with some discounts.

In a neat twist, you can switch between the modern graphics and the 8-bit graphics mid-game.

Vintage RPG Silver arrives on Steam

Every now and again, Silver pops into my head. So many imps murdered. 1999 was a pretty great year for RPGs, which meant Spiral House’s action-RPG had to go up against the likes of Planescape: Torment and System Shock 2, but it held its own. And now, finally, you can grab it on Steam and jump back 18 years.

Rainbow Six Siege hitbox fix stops earmuffs counting as a body part
http://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-hitbox-fix-stops-earmuffs-counting-as-a-body-part/
If you play a lot of Rainbow Six Siege, there’s a good chance that you’ve been killed when a bullet has struck your earmuffs, if you’re playing as Blitz, or another one of the accessories that the game’s Operatives wear to make themselves stand out from the crowd. Good news, then, because that won’t be happening anymore.

Well, I enjoyed it overall, though I agree that it's not really such a good RPG, given how restricted your character progression is. It feels more like an action-adventure with heavy RPG coat of paint then true RPG, and given how story driven it is, I don't think open-world was the right choice for it...I enjoyed TW2 much more then TW3.

Seems like the leaks from 12+ months ago were accurate to a degree.

Interesting how they didn't blow out the pipeline counts, having the same amount of pipes as Fury should mean most of the performance gains we see should be due to architectural efficiency gains, clocks and HBM2.

Keen to see how she performs in the real world and how we have progressed when compared to Fury. - AMD needs to release it already!
