Ah, still remember fondly the gameboy version of the game, one of the few games I actually played through. I actually found the game quite easy tbh, even when I got the chance to play it again some time ago.

They are using 3GB (24gbit) memory chips instead of 4GB (32gbit). {8 bits in a byte}
It will mean it will likely have a 320bit memory bus for over a Terabyte (Maybe 1.2Tb/s?) of memory bandwidth.

4-8GB of Ram for OS/Background tasks will likely be the standard, it really depends how much they wish to upgrade the OS, the jump from the PS4 to PS5 wasn't a big OS leap, but the OS could use faster SSD storage for a swap file more effectively.

They would have done this as a cost/benefit analysis where there is a preference for speed over sheer capacity.

Handhelds today already have 24GB-32GB of Ram... And PC's have transitioned to 32GB System memory for the optimal capacity for a number of years now.

It's a 160-bit bus design with 640GB/s of memory bandwidth. It says so in the article and Kepler's post.

160-bit is insanely low... And I genuinely have my doubts.

We haven't had a console with a lower-than-256bit memory bus since the 7th gen consoles. (Ignoring the cheap budget Series S and cheap Nintendo hardware)
Xbox Series X even has a 320bit bus.

That's only going to be 100GB/s more than the Xbox Series X bandwidth, which... Whilst it's not the be-all, end-all; as efficiency is more important, it is not a huge game changer for Neural and RT stuff.
Might work for a more budget focused console (Xbox Series S-esque)

SALES/PLAYER COUNTS & DEALS

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has taken the Metal Gear series to over 65 million games sold
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/metal-gear-solid-delta-snake-eater-has-taken-the-metal-gear-series-to-over-65-million-games-sold/
Konami has been slowly reviving the Metal Gear series in recent years, after the departure of series creator Hideo Kojima saw it go on a five year hiatus (eight years, if you discount the much-maligned Metal Gear Survive). 2023 brought the Master Collection Vol. 1, which launched with a few issues but is now an excellent package, but last year was the real acid test: the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a full-on remake of perhaps the most beloved game in the series.
Delta delivered. Maybe it was a little too faithful at points, maybe there's still that slight hesitance within Konami to really let its creatives loose, but it showed beyond doubt that the studio is still capable of delivering a great Metal Gear game (here's our review). And per a sales breakdown on Konami's corporate website, the audience is clearly still out there for a bit of Snake.
We already knew that Delta sold over a million copies in its launch week, but Konami now says that the series has sold a cumulative total of 65.5 million units. If you want to do some beermat maths, the series had sold 63.3 million as of June 2025, per Konami's own figures. Delta won't be entirely responsible for that 2.2 million jump but, as the only major Metal Gear release in the last year, it's reasonable to infer that the game ended up selling around or just under two million.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

DLSS Enabler Simulates DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation in Any DirectX 12 Game on Any DX12 GPU
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/dlss-enabler-simulates-dlss-4-multi-frame-generation-on-any-dx12-gpu-and-game/
Modder ‘artur07305’ has released a new version of the DLSS Enabler Tool. This latest version of DLSS Enabler can simulate DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation in any DX12 GPU to any DX12 game. As such, those with older GPUs can use it to boost their performance in pretty much every DX12 game.
For those who did not know, NVIDIA has locked DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Gen to its RTX-50 series GPUs. However, with this tool, you can now use DLSS 4 MFG to any DX12 GPU.
Naturally, DLSS 4 MFG will not look as good as it does on AMD’s GPUs or on older NVIDIA GPUs. Basically, the mod simulates DLSS 4 MFG. Still, this is something that some PC gamers can use on their low-tier GPUs to get a smoother gaming experience.
To showcase the benefits of this new version of DLSS Enabler, YouTube’s ‘GAMESMARK’ shared the following video. In the video, we get to see Cyberpunk 2077 running at 1080p/Ultra Settings on an NVIDIA GTX 1060. With Intel XeSS Balanced and DLSS 4 Frame Gen, the game runs with 60FPS. By enabling DLSS 4 MFG X3, the game jumps to 77FPS. And then, with MFG X4, he got to 100FPS. And that’s on an NVIDIA GTX 1060.

Valve isn't putting Gordon Freeman into any new games, so Deadlock modders have taken matters into their own hands
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/moba/valve-isnt-putting-gordon-freeman-into-any-new-games-so-deadlock-modders-have-taken-matters-into-their-own-hands/
To spare myself the psychic turmoil, I decided to accept years ago that Half-Life 3 will never happen. Best case scenario, I get to be delighted by being proven wrong. Worst case, I'm sparing myself from the cyclical mass psychosis of reading an imminent Half-Life 3 announcement in whatever tea leaves we've convinced ourselves exist.
But if the studio doesn't seem interested in bringing Gordon Freeman out of retirement in the foreseeable future, modders are more than happy to give Gordon some screentime in Valve's games whether the company wants to or not. There might not be a new Half-Life on the horizon, but thanks to modder Grelgn, Deadlock can now star the last free man.
Available on Gamebanana, Grelgn's Gordon Freeman mod is a skin swap for Venator using a Freeman model originally built by artists Komegatze, TGH, and Bruss for Source 2 Filmmaker use in Half-Life: Alyx. As a demo video shows, Venator's firearms-and-crossbow kit feels right at home with Freeman, even if the bespectacled scientist feels a little out of place against the backdrop of Deadlock's Cursed Apple.

The Original Assassin’s Creed Got a Must-Have HD Remaster Mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/the-original-assassins-creed-got-a-must-have-hd-remaster-mod/
Modder ‘QTmodz’ has just released a must-have HD Remaster Mod for the original 2007 Assassin’s Creed game. This mod will overhaul the game’s graphics. As such, it’s a must for those who want to replay it.
Going into more details, this HD Remaster Mod brings HD shadows, HD reflections, and HD Textures to the game. It packs 4K Clouds, and better sky domes. It also improves the quality of all buildings, ground, stone, and vegetation textures. Plus, you’ll get an overall better lighting and better bloom.
From what we know, Ubisoft does not have any plans to remaster this classic Assassin’s Creed game. Later this year, Ubisoft will most likely reveal the remake of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. I’m certain that a lot of its fans will be happy about it. But man, I’d really love to see a remake of the first AC game.

'I told you so!': As Mewgenics roars past 250,000 copies sold in less than a day, Edmund McMillen says 'I knew this game would eventually see the light of day, and I knew it would be my best work'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/i-told-you-so-as-mewgenics-roars-past-250-000-copies-sold-in-less-than-a-day-edmund-mcmillen-says-i-knew-this-game-would-eventually-see-the-light-of-day-and-i-knew-it-would-be-my-best-work/
The path to Mewgenics was a long one. It was revealed in 2012—yes, that's 14 years ago—and then delayed, and then cancelled outright. In 2018 Edmund McMillen announced that work had resumed, but instead of working with Team Meat partner Tommy Refenes, he was collaborating with Tyler Glaiel. A bit after that he warned that Mewgenics was still "a few years" away, and, well, eight years later, here we are.
Despite that long haul (or, maybe more likely, because of it), McMillen said in a new AMA on Reddit that finally getting Mewgenics out the door after all these years was a real moment of triumph—and one he never doubted.

Marvel Rivals' latest balance update continues to fan the flames of a broken meta: 'Today's patch notes have made me lose all hope'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/marvel-rivals-patch-notes-season-6-5/
NetEase finally spilt the beans on Marvel Rivals' Season 6.5 update yesterday, ahead of its launch on Friday, 13 February, giving us our first look at Elsa Bloodstone and all the balance changes. Of course, this was conveniently timed right as its competitor, Overwatch, launched its massive yearly refresh, which caused the game to break its player count record on Steam.
However, 'balance' isn't exactly the word I and many others would use to describe the latest patch notes, which continue to drop the ball that was already deep in the ground as far back as launch day.

I played the new demo for the upcoming Starship Troopers boomer shooter and accidentally wiped out 6 of my own guys when I bounced a grenade off someone's head

I sometimes have trouble keeping track of all the different Starship Troopers games out there, but the upcoming Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War stands out for a couple reasons. One, it's being made by Auroch Digital, developer of the very excellent Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, and two, there's now a demo on Steam so you can get into the bug hunt action (and take your first step toward citizenship) for free, right now.

Diablo 2 gets its first expansion in 25 years, featuring a new class, and finally, decent inventory management
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/diablo-2-is-coming-back-with-its-first-expansion-in-25-years-featuring-a-new-class-and-finally-decent-inventory-management/
I swore I heard the developers wrong on the Diablo 30th anniversary Spotlight video when they said that Diablo 2 would be getting a second expansion. Lord of Destruction came out 25 years ago; Diablo 2 is a really old game. Surely, they meant to say Diablo 4, the game that we already know is getting a second expansion this year.
Nope: I played it back, they really just announced a new Diablo 2 expansion called Reign of the Warlock, and made it available today. Diablo 2: Resurrected is also on Steam now.
>> More about Diablo 2: Diablo 2: Resurrected is on Steam and Steam Deck verified (link) and Blizzard says it's open to more Diablo 2 expansions and reworks (link).

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/diablo-4s-second-new-class-is-a-summoner-who-commands-demons-to-fight-demons/
The excitement around the return of paladins to Diablo 4 almost made me forget that a second class was still on its way. During today's Diablo Spotlight video, Blizzard reminded us that the Lord of Hatred expansion will launch with a second new class, one designed to contrast the bright and stalwart paladins.

Solasta 2 is committed to implementing a D&D 5E rule that Baldur's Gate 3 dismissed
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/solasta-2-is-committed-to-implementing-a-d-and-d-5e-rule-that-baldurs-gate-3-dismissed/
Solasta: Crown of the Magister was a more combat-focused take on the rules of Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition than Baldur's Gate 3, and so it included a couple of tactical options that Larian's narrative-heavy RPG didn't. Dodge, for instance—an action that gives all attacks against you disadvantage and also gives you advantage on Dexterity saving throws—was an option in Solasta.
So was "ready action", which let you prepare an attack or cantrip to use on an enemy when they came into range. Basically, it was overwatch. In tabletop Dungeons & Dragons though, readying an action can be used for anything your heart desires ("I ready an action to feed my potion of healing to the paladin when they drop" or "I ready an action to push the boulder off the cliff when the ogre is beneath it," for instance), and while that level of freeform planning isn't realistic in a videogame, Solasta's designers want more options available in Solasta 2. As the developers at Tactical Adventures say in the latest dev update, "we aim to have most actions compatible with Ready Action over time."

You may have doubts, but that's the info we've got so far. 640GB/s, almost 200GB/s faster than the base PS5 and around 70GB/s more than the PS5Pro.

But it's not like we haven't had clues that could explain this numbers. Keep in mind Sony and AMD partnership with project Amethyst, were one of the three key features is called Universal Compression and it's designed to "improve GPU memory bandwidth". Why would they need that if they were going to have a 320-bit memory bus and 1.2TB/s bandwidth?

Of course, of course, that tech could be for the handheld console, but wouldn't it be a waste to develop it and only use it for one of the two machines?

It feels like next gen might be one of the worst generations in terms of gaming. Xbox may as well be dead, Playstation and Nintendo are in different markets so god knows how the ps6 is gonna be priced. PC gaming is under all kinds of shat and it feels like if it's not one thing, there's always another to goof it up. From Crypto boom to Ai boom to memory shortage. It's like a never ending assault onto PC gaming.

Then you have this industry wide GaaS fetish with endless flops. And because so much money and time is going into these GaaS flops, it means that single player games are being sacrificed. There have certainly been bangers this gen for sure but hot dang, my interest in gaming is at an all time low.
