It's going to be 10 24 Gb modules, apparently, given Kepler said about bus width, so OS memory not included.

GDDRR7 was estimated to cost $3-4 per GB earlier last year, so a doubling or tripling in price could add $100-$200 to the final price of a 30GB console... if it were to release during the memory crunch, that is.

This.

They are using 3GB (24gbit) memory chips instead of 4GB (32gbit). {8 bits in a byte}
It will mean it will likely have a 320bit memory bus for over a Terabyte (Maybe 1.2Tb/s?) of memory bandwidth.

4-8GB of Ram for OS/Background tasks will likely be the standard, it really depends how much they wish to upgrade the OS, the jump from the PS4 to PS5 wasn't a big OS leap, but the OS could use faster SSD storage for a swap file more effectively.

They would have done this as a cost/benefit analysis where there is a preference for speed over sheer capacity.

Handhelds today already have 24GB-32GB of Ram... And PC's have transitioned to 32GB System memory for the optimal capacity for a number of years now.

It's a 160-bit bus design with 640GB/s of memory bandwidth. It says so in the article and Kepler's post.

Comparative to the ps5, going from 16 gb to 30 gb seems like a good jump, especially if memory bandwidth effectively doubles. Add in better ray tracing and better upscaling. Not for me, I am happy with PC, but the jump should be quite nice.

The jump is pretty big, yes, but it makes me wonder how much does Sony expect to charge for it. This gen, we've had cross-gen games for years, with some titles still launching today for both PS4 and PS5. If Sony goes too far with the price of the PS6, I feel like there'll be many gamers that will stick to their PS5s instead of upgrading to the newest one, more so in today's and likely tomorrow's economy.

RTX 5060 Ti 16GB now averages just over €700, nearing RTX 5070 pricing

That's insane. We're reaching, if not exceeding, Covid/crypto levels of pricing on Nvidia GPUs. A bit less on AMD since they haven't cut production to make more server cards, but they're also raising.

Introducing the Razer Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition, a mouse that costs more than an iPhone 17 Pro

https://news.instant-gaming.com/en/articles/17795-introducing-the-razer-boomslang-20th-anniversary-edition-a-mouse-that-costs-more-than-an-iphone-17-pro

"Only 1,337 Razer Boomslang mice will be sold worldwide starting February 11 at the exorbitant price of $1,337. By comparison, an iPhone 17 Pro costs €1,329 and a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra costs €1,249."

That's gonna be a no from me

It's a joke and the price shows it. The question is who will laugh harder, consumers not buying it or Razer for having found so many dumb people.

I still enter Discord once or twice a week, but it's been months since I posted anything on it, so this new policy doesn't affect me. Not that I'm on any server that deals with any "dangerous" content.
