It's not like you waited all this time playing nothing. And besides, the extra time has allowed you to play it on a better system and being able to turn on all the bells and whistles.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim just got an amazing Call of Duty Mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-just-got-an-amazing-call-of-duty-mod/
In 2023 and 2024, we saw two cool Call of Duty and World of Tanks mods for Skyrim Special Edition. And now, in 2025, we got a brand new incredible Call of Duty overhaul mod for Bethesda’s RPG, called Call of Duty – Tamriel at War. So, let’s see what this new mod is all about.
This mod will turn Skyrim into a modern first-person/third-person shooter. The game will now have gigantic battlefields stretching all across the map with Infantry, Tanks, Aircraft, and Artillery. Plus, the mod introduces Skyrim’s most modern gun mechanics to date, with many new guns, grenades, flamethrowers, and rocket launchers.
With this mod, all of Skyrim has become a modern warzone. Groups of soldiers and tanks will now travel across the roads and wild areas. When fighting starts, it can quickly turn into a huge battle. Officers can call in airstrikes, artillery, and more troops to help. This will make each fight feel big, exciting, and full of surprises.
In Call of Duty – Tamriel at War, there isn’t one set mission to follow. Instead, you fight in a war that is always changing. You move with your team from your base to the next goal without any loading screens. The battle can happen at random times. So, you never know where the enemy might be hiding or how many there are. Besides being a soldier, you can also take charge as a commander. As such, you will be able to gather troops, build your army, and lead them into battle, just like in a strategy game.
And that’s not all. Call of Duty – Tamriel at War adds new guns/weapons to the game. Each weapon comes with its own animation. Guns will behave realistically in terms of how accurate they are and how much damage they inflict. Oh, and the archery perk tree has been expanded to include perks for guns. And yes, you will be able to reload your weapons at will.

Oblivion Remastered Mod Overhauls the Behavior of All Animals
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/oblivion-remastered-mod-overhauls-the-behavior-of-all-animals/
Modder ‘OzenRSI’ has released a new cool mod for Oblivion Remastered. This mod will change how prey and predator animals behave, making them act more like real animals in the wild.
The mod also gives each animal its own special AI that reacts to what the player does. The modder says this will make the world feel more real and the wilderness more exciting to explore.
Prey animals will now notice the player based on how they move, sneak, stand in combat, or how close they are. On the other hand, Predators will act more carefully. They might follow, run away, or attack depending on what the player does and how strong or weak they feel. Their behavior will change in real-time. In short, this is a cool mod that will make the game’s world feel more alive. Those interested can go ahead and download the mod from this link.
OzenRSI is also working on similar AI overhaul mods for Bosses, Creatures and Humanoids. So, things will get even better in the future.

The creator of The Witcher 3 HD Reworked has released his first mods for Oblivion Remastered
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/the-creator-of-the-witcher-3-hd-reworked-has-released-his-first-mods-for-oblivion-remastered/
Modder ‘Halk Hogan’, known for his HD Reworked Projects for The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has released his first mods for Oblivion Remastered. So, let’s take a closer look at them, shall we?
The first mod introduces high-quality skin to all characters. The mod improves body details, from toes to neck, for all female and male characters. It will affect all races except of Argonians and Khajiits. Plus, it covers both the main character and the NPCs. You can download it from here.
The second mod adds 8K body textures to the game for the Imperials. It packs 8K diffuse textures and 2K normal maps. As I said, this mod will only cover the Imperial race. In theory, the modder will cover other races in the future. So, hopefully, he will release an AIO modlist that will include all of them. The third mod reworks faces textures to be much smoother and younger. For best results, Halk Hogan recommends putting the player age slider in character creation on maximum left (youngest possible age). However, even if you haven’t done that, the mod will improve the faces of all ages. It’s a cool mod that takes advantage of the RHQS Mod. In fact, Halk Hogan recommends using both of them.
It will be interesting to see whether we’ll get an HD Reworked Project for Oblivion Remastered. To be honest, most of the textures used in Oblivion Remastered are fine. But then again, that’s what we were saying for TW3, too.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 got a NieR: Automata 2B Mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/clair-obscur-expedition-33-got-a-nier-automata-2b-mod/
Modder ‘CodeBreakerUmbra’ has released a mod Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, that replaces Lune with 2B from NieR: Automata. As such, you will now be able to play this new RPG with your favourite android from Yoko Taro’s title.
This is just a character swap mod. In other words, it will only replace Lune’s 3D model with that one of 2B. It will not change her voice, hear weapons or her skill tree. So, don’t expect to see any custom moves for 2B. She will still act and sound like Lune.
Now I don’t want to go into spoilers, but it can make sense to have other characters from other games in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It all comes down to the Paintress. And that’s all I’m going to say.

GTA 5 Enhanced Edition – Next-Gen Euphoria Mod Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/gta-5-enhanced-edition-next-gen-euphoria-mod-released/
Modder ‘iammrmikeman’ has released a new mod for GTA 5 Enhanced Edition that aims to overhaul its Euphoria Physics Engine. By using it, you’ll get better and more immersive physics. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
The Next Gen Euphoria Mod attempts to enable all the disabled features of the Euphoria Physics Engine. Or at least that’s what the modder claims.
The mod randomizes the NPC recovery time after being pushed or ran over between 50ms and 3000ms. It also enables offscreen ragdolls, and makes car crashes more brutal. NPCs will now balance better, and both the main character and the NPCs can now take more steps in euphoria before a fall.
Moreover, the mod increases the maximum amount of active euphoria ragdolls at any time to 350. Plus, it enhances bullet reactions for pretty much all weapons.

Finally, this Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 camping mod means I'll never have to scour Bohemia for a place to sleep again
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/finally-this-kingdom-come-deliverance-2-camping-mod-means-ill-never-have-to-scour-bohemia-for-a-place-to-sleep-again/
Much as I love Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, one thing I didn't like, at least in the early game, was bed hunting. Sleeping is the main way you save and regenerate health in Warhorse Studios' marvellous medieval RPG, but in the game's first area beds are rarer than groschen and good steel. Rocking up to a campsite to discover a bunch of heavily armed bandits slumbering away was always a deflating experience, as was spending what few coins I'd earned on a bed in an inn just to save the game.
Hence, it was with no small amount of relief that I discovered the existence of the KCD2 camping mod, which furnishes Henry with the ability to set up his own campsite anywhere in Bohemia. Created by modder djb and released just a few days ago, the mod "enhances the roleplaying experience in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, allowing players to set up their own authentic personal campsites anywhere in the world."
The camping mod basically lets you carry your own camping equipment around with you, then deploy it at will on any suitable terrain. A basic camp includes a campfire, a tent, and a bed which, according to djb "conforms with the base game's cooking and sleeping systems."
To be clear, the mod doesn't whisk you away to a separate camping area Baldur's Gate 3 style. It actually places your camp within the game world, dynamically aligning your tent, campfire etc with the underlying terrain. According to djb, getting this to work involved writing 1,500 lines of code. "This turned out to be an extensive exercise in creative problem solving to get the game system to allow for dynamically placing interactive smart objects like fires and beds", djb writes, adding that "It does not like this black magic, and there will probably be bugs."
>> There is only one screenshot of the mod.

Even Starfield's community patch modders are growing 'disenchanted' with the sci-fi RPG, as volunteers depart in droves: 'If nobody comes forward, we may have to retire the project'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/even-starfields-community-patch-modders-are-growing-disenchanted-with-the-sci-fi-rpg-as-volunteers-depart-in-droves-if-nobody-comes-forward-we-may-have-to-retire-the-project/
It would be unfair to call Starfield a terrible game, but by now it's safe to say that Bethesda's sci-fi RPG lacks the magic of its earlier games, particularly when compared to Skyrim and Oblivion. Indeed, the fervour around Oblivion Remastered demonstrates much of what Starfield lacks, like the ability to create a distinct, interesting character, and a world with the capacity to produce weird, interesting scenarios.
You don't have to take my word for it either. Since launching in 2023, Starfield has slumped to a 'Mixed' rating of 58% positive reviews on Steam, and now, even its most dedicated fans are growing weary of its po-faced science fiction and bitty, nebulous galaxy. The creators of the Starfield Community Patch, who banded together more than a year before the game launched to unofficially support this latest Bethesda world, are at risk of the project collapsing entirely because its volunteers are fed up with the game.
This was revealed on the Starfield Modding Discord by Community Patch modder Pickysaurus (via GamesRadar), who recently announced the project is "looking for new caretakers." Explaining why the Community Patch hasn't been updated since September 2024, Pickysaurus states that "This is due to the core team members generally not having the time or motivation to curate the patch anymore."

It would take 2 years, and 2TB of data, to pre-bake the lighting of Assassin’s Creed Shadows
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/assassins-creed-shadows-would-require-2tb-of-data-and-2-years-for-baked-lighting/
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is easily one of the best-looking games on PC right now. This is the first AC game that feels, in terms of lighting, as good as AC: Unity. This is mainly due to the RTGI implementation, as the game takes full advantage of it.
In the past couple of years, a lot of people have been asking why the devs have moved from rasterized pre-baked lighting to real-time Ray Tracing. And we finally have some insight from the devs themselves. Forget all the YouTubers who constantly post angry videos. Here is why more and more games will be using RTGI.

Monday news, the second part:

Sure, man: The $200 deluxe edition of the Gex Trilogy remaster includes a 3-foot inflatable Gex and box art from legendary illustrator Yoshitaka Amano

For better or worse, society must soon reckon with Gex once more. As we reported with no small amount of trepidation in 2023, Limited Run Games is releasing Gex Trilogy, a remaster collection of all three adventures of the anthropoid lizard that Crystal Dynamics first inflicted on the human consciousness in 1995. And yesterday, Limited Run revealed the Gex Trilogy Tail Time Edition, a $200 fever dream of Gex idolatry including not one, but two separate physical instantiations of Gex that you can place in your real, human home.

Quake finally makes it into the World Videogame Hall of Fame
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/quake-finally-makes-it-into-the-world-videogame-hall-of-fame/
My first thought upon learning that Quake had been inducted into the World Videogame Hall of Fame was that it was very weird Quake wasn't already in the World Videogame Hall of Fame. I mean, you've had Halo in there since 2017, and not Quake? What? What are we even doing here? It's the sort of thing that has the potential to start fistfights in sketchy sports bars—or heated arguments on social media, at least. But never mind, it's all water under the bridge now, as Quake was one of four HoF inductees for 2025.

Europa Universalis 5's unusual, year-long reveal was a lesson Paradox learned from Imperator's mixed reception: 'I wanted to do it a little bit earlier, but marketing people tend to get panicky when you start talking'

It was pretty obvious, right from the first dev diary published on February 24, 2024 that Paradox Tinto was working on Europa Universalis 5. The studio had been set up to maintain 2013's Europa Universalis 4, and was headed by EU director Johan Andersson. Everything it showed us from Project Caesar screamed Europa Universalis 5.

Randy Pitchford asks fans to 'play the game first' before judging Borderlands 4's new minimap-free HUD
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/randy-pitchford-asks-fans-to-play-the-game-first-before-judging-borderlands-4s-new-minimap-free-hud/
Borderlands fans noticed that instead of the minimap introduced in Borderlands 2, the recent Borderlands 4 gameplay deep dive features a compass bar that points toward objectives. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed that the minimap is gone during a PAX East panel on Friday, and asked fans to hold judgement until they've played the game.

After a decade of development, Roboquest's developer is calling time on its roguelite shooter: 'There's no way we can continue to provide content for players with over 1,000 hours of gameplay'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/after-a-decade-of-development-roboquests-developer-is-calling-time-on-its-roguelite-shooter-theres-no-way-we-can-continue-to-provide-content-for-players-with-over-1-000-hours-of-gameplay/
When I was a kid, post-launch support was a concept reserved mainly for NASA, and rarely the domain of video games. Sure, you might download the odd online patch on your 56k modem to fix particularly gnarly bugs. But that was more or less it. These days, it's expected that games will be supported for months and even years after release. And this support isn't limited to fixing bugs: Developers are expected to add new, often free content to their games if they want to keep those Steam reviews in the blue.
I often wonder about the effect this has upon developers, and if the words of Roboquest's designers are anything to go by, it sounds like it's pretty exhausting. A bright and cheerful rogue-lite FPS about blasting robots through randomly generated environments, Roboquest launched into Steam early access in 2020, before formally releasing in 2023. Developer RyseUp Studio has continued to support the game since. Now though, after what the devs say is 10 years of work on the game, that support is coming to an end.

Elden Ring's upcoming update will add two new starting classes, one of them equipped with a top-tier DLC weapon it used to take dozens of hours to grab

As reported by Eurogamer, Elden Ring's "Tarnished Edition" GOTY re-release and update won't just come with new weapons out in the world: It'll have two new starting classes added to the lineup, with both harkening back to Souls characters of the past, and one of them coming equipped with the Milady Light Greatsword, a killer weapon that used to be gated by an endgame boss.

One of the most visually stunning roguelikes just overhauled its graphics to look even gnarlier, but you can still toggle back to the OG art style at will

The gorgeous first person action-roguelike Mortal Sin recently went live with a surprising new update: A graphical overhaul with an arguably even more stunning riff on its pulp comic book art style. Fans of the original needn't fret, though: You can toggle between the OG palette and new hotness at any time.

Timberborn's latest update adds ziplines and tubeways for rapid beaver deployment and stops your rodent residents from throwing down in sudden fits of breakdancing
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/city-builder/timberborns-latest-update-adds-ziplines-and-tubeways-for-rapid-beaver-deployment-and-stops-your-rodent-residents-from-throwing-down-in-sudden-fits-of-breakdancing/
Timberborn is yet another example of just how brilliant the city-building genre is right now. Mechanistry's beaver-themed management sim lets you construct a water-powered metropolis for the world's most engineeringly-minded rodent, constructing dams and aqueducts, powering your city with waterwheels. All that, and it's still in early access, with subsequent updates adding mechanised beavers and disgusting polluted water.
Now, a whole new update has arrived, and it folds in some pretty dramatic features to the city builder. Update 7—Ziplines and Tubeways adds two whole new ways to move your beavers around your city, as well as making fundamental changes to how cities can be constructed, as well as a few other goodies.

MechWarrior 5's beefy story expansion is out, and it has the most videogame title I've ever had the pleasure to read
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/mechwarrior-5s-beefy-story-expansion-is-out-and-it-has-the-most-videogame-title-ive-ever-had-the-pleasure-to-read/
I love a clunky-ass videogame title. Some may argue that videogame names should be kept simple and punchy, like Doom or Quake or BioShock. I would counter that your videogame isn't truly a videogame unless the name has at least two punctuation marks in it. I'm talking Vampire: The Masquerade—Bloodlines, or my personal favourite, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution. If you don't have to pause for breath while saying it, it isn't a proper videogame.
MechWarrior 5: Clans is relatively mundane as titles go, but the newly released expansion for Piranha Games' mech shooter elevates it to wondrous new levels of silliness. The DLC is called MechWarrior 5: Clans – Ghost Bear: Flash Storm, which is objectively the greatest name for a game ever. What is a Ghost Bear? Why is there a Flash Storm? I must know the answer to these questions!

The best FPS of 2024 simply cannot stop adding new maps, introducing 37 new arenas, 4 new weapons, and a 'Horrible Smelly Head' in its latest update
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/the-best-fps-of-2024-simply-cannot-stop-adding-new-maps-introducing-37-new-arenas-4-new-weapons-and-a-horrible-smelly-head-in-its-latest-update/
Rarely have I been so instantly enamoured with a game as Straftat, a gleefully chaotic micro-FPS created by two brothers who couldn't find a decent deathmatch shooter to play. Straftat pitches two players against each other in lightning-paced 1v1 duels. Less of a throwback and more of a distillation of the classic deathmatches of yore—particularly Half-Life with shades of Quake and Unreal in there too—it features dozens of weapons, 150 small yet wildly inventive maps, and a wonderful selection of hats, all for the low, low price of nothing.
Straftat is quite possibly the best deal on Steam, the only paid element being an optional, $5/£4.29 DLC that almost doubles the map count and adds a bunch of other features. That deal got better in February when French developers Sirius and Léonard Lemaitre added a chunk of extra maps, and even better-er in April when they did the same again. Now, barely a month later, they've added another massive update to the game.

Anoxia Station is a weird little "horror-strategy" game set in that world where you take charge of one of these expeditions in a turn-based format, trying to deep-earth strip mine your way to humanity's future. It's a strange and unique-looking game that builds an aesthetic comparable to HR Giger's—a blend of industrial mechanics, natural features, and bizarre creatures.

REPO devs are making that new Overcharge mechanic kick in later on—alongside other difficulty scaling
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/horror/repo-devs-are-making-that-new-overcharge-mechanic-kick-in-later-on-alongside-other-difficulty-scaling/
The devs behind co-op horror game REPO have laid out a decision they've made after player feedback from their latest open beta update: they're going to make the Overcharge mechanic that penalizes players grabbing onto monsters something that only kicks in after 10 levels of play.

The tower defense comeback continues with Rift Riff, a 'remarkably forgiving' game about interdimensional juice raids
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/the-tower-defense-comeback-continues-with-rift-riff-a-remarkably-forgiving-game-about-interdimensional-juice-raids/
You, a bumbling cloaked wizardy figure, tumble out of a wormhole into a new world. You jog a short distance to the spot you can install your extractor—which is a tower that sucks juice out of the land. Your initial juice budget lets you buy a few defensive towers well, which you place along the path you just followed, which also happens to be the path shadowy blob monsters will follow when they pour out of space to come for your extractor.
This is Rift Riff, a tower defense game that joins Thronefall, Cataclismo, Emberward, Defender's Quest 2, and most recently Nordhold and Gnomes in the resurgent hold-the-line genre. Turtling is back, and I'm so happy I would come out from behind my maze of walls, only I will never come out from behind my maze of walls, that is how they get you.

Ouch—Warner Bros throws Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League under the bus in the most corporate way possible, side-eyes it for closed studios and cancelled games

WB Games has had a bit of a rough time recently. That's as per a finance report that unveiled a cliff-sharp drop in gaming revenue in the first quarter of 2025. While the report doesn't have its own segment purely for gaming, it does go into the numbers pulled in by videogames in its highlights summary.

Bam Margera is officially returning to Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 + 4 as a Secret Skater
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sports/bam-margera-is-officially-returning-to-tony-hawk-pro-skater-3-4-as-a-secret-skater/
After a lot of speculation, Bam Margera's appearance as a Secret Skater in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 + 4 has been officially confirmed by a video posted to the game's social media. In March, the skater list was published and players were quick to notice that Bam Margera was missing from the lineup. But, not long after the lineup was announced, it was shared on skating podcast The Nine Club that Tony Hawk was essentially demanding Margera's appearance in the game, even after development had finished.

Oblivion Remastered has a new texture error, and this one mucks up a gag from the original game
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/the-elder-scrolls/oblivion-remastered-has-a-new-texture-error-and-this-one-mucks-up-a-gag-from-the-original-game/
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun: a second texture error has been located in Oblivion Remastered's whizzbang skins, rendering the game unplayable and life unlivable. Right after players noticed that the new texture on the door to Cheydinhal's Dark Brotherhood sanctuary recklessly bungles a bit of the sect's background lore, someone else has noticed a gag on one of the game's shop signs hasn't survived the transition to 4K.

Cash Cleaner Simulator is the next legally obscure sim to take the internet by storm
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/cash-cleaner-simulator-is-the-next-legally-obscure-sim-to-take-the-internet-by-storm/
After the popularity of Schedule 1, it was only a matter of time before another questionable simulator came to occupy everyone's free time, and Cash Cleaner Simulator is here to do just that.
Rather than crafting your own supply and handing it out around the town, as the name suggests you are responsible for checking, cleaning, and sorting out stacks of notes before shipping it back out. The only catch is you can't leave, and you probably shouldn't ask any questions.

Bonus article to make us all feel a bit old:

WoW's Leeroy Jenkins, one of the internet's oldest memes, turns 20 years old—and after looking back on what we wrote in 2005, I feel like we've failed Leeroys everywhere

I don't like to make our readers feel the weight of the passing years—but I'm afraid I have to inform you that Leeroy Jenkins, one of the internet's oldest memes, turned 20 years old yesterday. I know, I know. I'm not sure how to feel about it either.
The meme (which is one year away from being able to drink in the US, and has already been slamming pints for two years in the UK) was released https://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=1666">on May 11, 2005 to Warcraftmovies—you know, back when you could still have websites dedicated to the machinima of a single game. Also, back when 'Machinima' was still a word people used.

NVIDIA Has Implemented a Massive Price Hike Across Its AI/Gaming GPU Offerings To Maximize Profitability & Counter Losses From China

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-has-implemented-a-massive-price-hike-across-its-ai-gaming-gpus/

Meanwhile in Europe, the prices keep dropping:

  • 5060Ti 8GB: 383€ (down from 399€)
  • 5060Ti 16GB: 442€ (down from 449€)
  • 5070: 590€ (down from 599€)
  • 5070Ti: 835€ (down from 869€)
  • 5080: 1119€ (down from 1249€)
  • 5090: 2749€ (down from 2829€)

At the same time, AMD RDNA4 GPUs are selling out pretty much the moment they come in. Their 9070 models can't be bought (probably reserved for system-building, cheapest of those would otherwise be 636€) and of their 9070XT, only one is available, the Powercolor Hellhound Spectral White at 766€

Maxsun EEC Registration Confirms RTX 5050 With 8 GB VRAM Capacity; Also Confirms A 24 GB Arc B580 GPU

Multiple GeForce RTX 5060 Editions Listed On A Major Retailer: Starting At $299 And Up To $409 For OC Editions

https://wccftech.com/multiple-geforce-rtx-5060-editions-listed-on-best-buy/

The 5050 being a very budget-oriented card, so here I don't mind the 8GB VRAM so much, but the 5060/Ti 8B (and upcoming 9060/XT 8GB cards) need to die quickly, that's simply not enough anymore nowadays for anything that's supposed to be midrange.

$299 seems like an okay price, $409 would be above the cheapest 5060Ti variants, so truly a waste of sand at that point. It also makes me wonder what price the 5050 would have. If it's $199, it would actually be a decent budget card, but anything above would be too much.

Prices are much better over there. The cheapest 5060Ti 16GB I've seen in stock over here is 480€.
