Summer gaming showcase season is upon us, and the PC Gaming Show returns as part of the pack on Sunday, June 9. It's a big year: Our 2024 event is the 10th summertime PC Gaming Show, and so of course we've outdone ourselves with two hours of reveals, interviews, and trailers for over 70 games.
As tradition dictates, hosts Mica Burton, Sean "Day [9]" Plott, and Frankie Ward are returning to deliver all the exclusive reveals. And oh the exclusives there shall be: from Stormgate, to Still Wakes the Deep, to Killing Floor 3.

Keen Games just delivered the community's most-requested feature for co-op fantasy survival game Enshrouded: player-based quest progression has finally arrived in today's update, meaning you won't be shut out of quests just because other players on your server have already completed them. Hooray!
Indie dev baffled after acquaintance clones his game, puts it on Steam, and acts like it's no big deal: 'Happens every day homie'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/card-games/dire-decks-wildcard-clone/
When he started chatting with Terry Brash, indie game developer kindanice thought he was just swapping tips with a fellow dev. He didn't know that his new acquaintance was going to take his whole game, too.
Kindanice related this story to PC Gamer over DMs this week, and shared screenshots of his conversations with Brash, who did not respond to a request for comment.
>> Imho, Steam should step in and do something.
Hitman is finally bringing back dual wielding, but it's coming in a new VR game that's exclusive to the Meta Quest 3
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/hitman-is-finally-bringing-back-dual-wielding-but-its-coming-in-a-new-vr-game-thats-exclusive-to-the-meta-quest-3/
Hitman fans weren't happy about the decision to remove dual wielding in the most recent trilogy, now known as World of Assassination, but now it's finally coming back—as long as you have a Meta Quest 3 headset, that is. Virtual reality developer XR Games is bringing the feature to a new game in the series called Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded, a "rebuilt from the ground up" game that will be available exclusively on Meta's latest VR headset.
Gray Zone Warfare dev rolls back patch and admits 'we didn't trust our community when they reported performance issues'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/gray-zone-warfare-dev-rolls-back-patch-and-admits-we-didnt-trust-our-community-when-they-reported-performance-issues/
Gray Zone Warfare has rolled back its latest hotfix in response to players who said it was tanking their performance. Hotfix 5.2, originally deployed yesterday, was meant to address a handful of quest bugs and improve rubberbanding. Soon after its release, players started sharing clips of heavy slowdown and crashes they weren't getting before.
This anti-meat industry horror game was inspired by the death of the dev's pet chicken, and it's basically Abe's Oddysee plus Resident Evil but you're poultry

Like Morrissey once said: Meat is murder. I strongly encourage you not to look up anything else he ever said, but the man had a point with that one. Whether you're a devoted vegan or a full-on carnivore, I don't think many would disagree that the meat industry is a bit of a nightmare, and that in general humanity's stewardship of the planet Earth has been—for all the beasts that walk upon it—a bit of a mixed bag.
I doubt anyone understands this better than Jean Lima, the single developer behind Saborus, the horror game in which you play a chicken, the demo for which I just got done playing. Lima was inspired to make the game "precisely because he had a pet chicken and suffered when his beloved pet died," which led to a lot of reflection on "on the daily horror that animals that are part of most people's diet suffer."
Final Fantasy 14 director doesn't have any plans to change 'the structure' of Dawntrail's patches, but its Bozja-like field exploration zone 'will be larger in scale than the content we've had in the past'

The reception to the post-Endwalker patch cycle in Final Fantasy 14 has been decidedly tepid. (...)
It's drummed up thoughts around whether the current post-expansion patch structure—which has largely remained the same across the last decade—needs to change. (…)
(...)
Ultimately, according to Yoshida, the benefits of having a set schedule for each expansion's major content outweigh the risks. He also claims that it not only benefits the players—so they know what's coming and when—but it makes things a lot easier on the developers too, making things more efficient for the team and therefore easier to push out all the raids and whatnot.
>> Yoshida also thinks the team is well prepared for launch and possible DDoS attacks.
FF14 director Yoshi-P says 'possibly 98%' of the team are inspired by Elden Ring, but assures players Dawntrail won't be as brutally hard

Final Fantasy 14's next expansion, Dawntrail, will launch just a week after Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which was a deliberate decision to get out of FromSoftware's way, the MMO's director Naoki Yoshida (also known as Yoshi-P) said at PAX East earlier this year.
Why I'm worried about Dragon Age Dreadwolf—and the Tiamat-sized RPG Baldur's Gate 3 looming over it is just the start

As a huge fan of the Dragon Age series, I'm seriously worried about the impending reveal of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which is reported to be getting an official unveiling this summer. This worry stems not just from everything we know so far about its development, but also from my own selfish, personal history with the series, which has been incredibly important to me and, to this day in 2024, I hold great affection for. Oh, and then there's the huge Tiamat-sized dragon in the room, too, but we'll get to that shortly.
New Helldivers 2 CEO says dev-player relationships are more 'doctor/patient', reveals that Arrowhead's taking a stethoscope to your Reddit posts and YouTube rants

Helldivers 2 has simmered down considerably after the stratospheric success of its launch—which started at an all-time peak of over 450,000 players and has since nestled into a cosy 24-hour peak of around 40,000 at the time of writing.

As part of these changes, former CEO Johan Pilestedt elected to become the game's CCO instead in order to direct '100% of my focus [to] the game and community'. Replacing him is Shams Jorjani, who took to Twitter yesterday to share some snapshots from the studio's new workshops that confirm yes, the team is reading your Reddit threads.
'The baddest motherf***er in the room' is, unexpectedly, the cozy building game Tiny Glade—which is already ruling Steam Next Fest with over 800,000 wishlists

Steam Next Fest is almost upon us, and while there are typically going to be quite a few fantastic games that make an appearance, the cosy building game Tiny Glade is already leading the pack with over 800,000 wishlists on Steam, a fact that's not gone unnoticed..
