This may be an odd question but does anyone know of any wired keyboards (perhaps a fancy mechanical one) that you can plug in from the side? Bonus points if it has dedicated and sensible media controls. My wireless one works well enough but I wouldn't mind something with lower latency and better keys - only problem being that a traditional back plug doesn't fit my current setup.

Thanks.

Not much I could find in that regard. There are some keyboards where the cable is off-axis, but none where it's really on the side.

There are however some where the cable plug is actually under the keyboard and generally gets routed behind it for connection. But with it's feet lifting the keyboard up a bit, it's entirely doable to route the cable under the keyboard to exit on the side with those.

Keychron connect from the side or at least some of them do not sure if everyone one of their range does and can be used as a wired or wireless keyboard.

You can finally accept your mum's friend request now Steam officially lets you hide your mountain of weird sex games
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/you-can-finally-accept-your-mums-friend-request-now-steam-officially-lets-you-hide-your-mountain-of-weird-sex-games/
Good news for anyone who's spent the last six years in a cold sweat, veins pulsing in their forehead as their hand hovers over the purchase button on the Steam page for Hentai Backend Developer 4: that feature that lets you hide all your most shameful games from your Steam library is finally out of beta.
We first caught wind that Steam was going to add a Mark as Private option to your library back in November last year, and Valve put the feature into beta in December. It works simply enough: just right-click a game in your library, go down to Manage, then hit Mark as Private (not "Hide this game," which just obscures an entry from your list of games but keeps it viewable on your profile and when you play it). Boom, suddenly you can accept that pending friend request from your local vicar without fear.
While the ability to stick a game under your proverbial mattress is the obvious headline item, the update actually comes as part of a suite of new additions to Steam's purchasing experience. For instance, you can now gift a game to multiple friends all at once and your shopping cart will follow you across devices. You can also mark a game as private right there when you buy it: handy if you might otherwise forget to mark it later while you're overcome with, uh, emotion.
If, like me, you share your Steam library using the platform's family sharing functionality, you're probably wondering if marking a game as private impacts that. After some testing, I can confirm that it does. Games I marked as private in my own library didn't appear in the games lists of people I share with. Your private games are just for you. And god, to whom you will one day have to justify your purchases.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Yuzu is dead and its creators will pay $2.4 million in damages to Nintendo
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-creators-of-yuzu-will-pay-2-4-million-in-damages-to-nintendo/
Last week, Nintendo sued the creators of the Nintendo Switch emulator, Yuzu. Nintendo claimed in its lawsuit that Yuzu was responsible for the illegal downloads of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Moreover, the big “N” claimed that its tech illegally circumvents Nintendo’s software encryption. And from the looks of it, the Yuzu team will have to pay Nintendo $2.4 million in damages.
Not only that but the Court has ordered the team to surrender, and permanently cease to use, the domain name YUZUEMU.ORG. The court has also ordered the destruction by deletion of all circumvention devices, including all copies of Yuzu, all circumvention tools used for developing or using Yuzu, and all copies of Nintendo cryptographic keys. Basically, Yuzu is now officially dead.
Now I don’t know what this could mean for the future of console emulation. I also don’t know whether Nintendo will now go after Ryujinx. What I do know is that this win for Nintendo may have a huge impact on the whole emulation scene.
It will be interesting to see whether Nintendo will now go after Ryujinx. Alongside Yuzu, Ryujinx was able to play A LOT of Nintendo Switch games at launch. So, make sure to back up copies of these emulators while you still can.

Nintendo 3DS emulator Citra taken offline as collateral damage in Yuzu lawsuit settlement
https://www.pcgamer.com/software/nintendo-3ds-emulator-citra-taken-offline-as-collateral-damage-in-yuzu-settlement/
The developers of Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu entered a surprise settlement with Nintendo on Monday, agreeing to pay the game company $2.4 million in damages and cease development and distribution of the emulator. Now, as a result of that settlement, Citra—a 3DS emulator that shared developers with Yuzu—has also been taken offline.
The Citra Twitter account posted a message that was originally shared in the Yuzu Discord, addressed to "Yuz-ers and Citra fans," stating that "Yuzu and Yuzu's support of Citra are being discontinued, effective immediately."

New Nintendo Switch emulators Nuzu and Suyu rise from the ashes of Yuzu
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/nintendo-switch-emulators-nuzu-and-suyu-rise-from-the-ashes-of-yuzu/
Earlier today, we shared news about Yuzu, the Nintendo Switch emulator, shutting down. But guess what? Two new emulators have popped up since then – Nuzu and Suyu. They’re built on the latest Yuzu version. Cool, right?
If you didn’t know, Yuzu used to be a Nintendo Switch emulator that anyone could use and improve since it was open-source. Now that the emulator has closed, folks can still use its code and make it even better. That is of course under a different name.
From what I know, there aren’t any teams working on them right now. In short, these are forks of the latest Early-Access version of Yuzu. As such, they can run all the games that Yuzu could. They also suffer from the same issues that Yuzu did.
(...)
Some say that Yuzu’s Patreon was what forced Nintendo to hunt them down. Yuzu made a lot of money via Patreon as it kept its Early Builds behind its Patreon wall. That’s basically what modders do with their beta/early-access mods. So, if that’s the case, the rest of the Nintendo Switch emulators should be safe. After all, Nintendo will soon launch Switch 2 so it makes no sense to hunt down the remaining emulators.

Version 2.12 of The Dark Mod, THIEF game in the Doom 3 Engine, brings major performance and optimization improvements
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/version-2-12-of-the-dark-mod-thief-game-in-the-doom-3-engine-brings-major-performance-and-optimization-improvements/
The team behind The Dark Mod, a THIEF game that is powered by the Doom 3 Engine, has released a brand new version of it. According to the devs, Version 2.12 brings major performance and optimization improvements.
For those unaware, The Dark Mod is a free dark and moody stealth game, that is heavily inspired by the Thief series by Looking Glass Studios. It’s a great game, so be sure to at least give it a go.
Version 2.12 brings a big improvement to the game by overhauling its culling system. In short, it improves how the game handles things you can’t see, like hidden objects, lights, and shadows. As such, your PC won’t waste resources on things you’re not looking at, making the game run better. You’ll notice that missions which used to slow down your computer now run much more smoothly. So, big thumbs up to the team for this awesome optimization change. If you’re curious, you can find more details about the new culling system here.
This latest version also packs a number of QoL improvements. For instance, the game now has more seamless and accessible controls. Mantling is now smoother, faster, and less prone to cause the player to clip through geometry. Leaning is also more subtle and less prone to cause motion sickness. Plus, you can now configure TDM to automatically loot any frobbed AI.

Tuesday news, part two:

Dune: Awakening devs had to get permission from the Herberts to change a tiny piece of Dune lore so players wouldn't constantly nuke each other
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/dune-awakening-devs-had-to-get-permission-from-the-herberts-to-change-a-tiny-piece-of-dune-lore-so-players-wouldnt-nuke-each-other-constantly/
In Dune: Awakening, Funcom's upcoming survival MMO set on the harsh desert planet of Arrakis, you'll be able to build your own home, ally yourself with one of the Great Houses, flee from enormous sandworms and fight other players with both ranged weapons and up-close melee combat. But you will not be allowed to shoot one of Dune's laser weapons at a player with an active personal shield, a gameplay constraint that will make a lot of sense when you read this description from the Dune wiki

You can claim land for your base on Arrakis in survival MMO Dune: Awakening, but you'll have to pay the Emperor for it

Since its reveal back in 2022, we've gradually been learning more about Dune: Awakening, Funcom's upcoming survival MMO set on a "vast and seamless Arrakis." Along with a new gameplay trailer released today that you can watch above, PC Gamer editor Wes Fenlon got the chance to chat with Funcom's Joel Bylos, the MMO's creative director, about some of the finer details, like Dune: Awakening's base-building.

'A lot of us are old school MMO players': Dune: Awakening's creative director on how Star Wars Galaxies was a 'huge inspiration' for the new survival game

"It's funny you mentioned Star Wars Galaxies—that was a huge inspiration for us," Joel Bylos said. "That's the style of MMO we really like, the old sandboxy MMOs. Then World of Warcraft came out and everyone copied that for a few years, or still do. But a lot of us are old school MMO players. Funcom's been around for awhile—even made one of the originals, with Anarchy Online."

Get back in the war: Helldivers 2 daily orders have returned, and earlier than announced
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/get-back-in-the-war-helldivers-2-daily-orders-have-returned-and-earlier-than-announced/
I do not want to die in a bug-infested hellscape for nothing. If I'm going to get murdered over and over again in Helldivers 2, I better be getting a big stack of medals out of it. Such rewards haven't exactly been pouring in, however, since one of the biggest sources, the daily personal orders, hasn't been working.
(...)
The good news is that the medal drought will soon be over. "Starting 09.00 CET tomorrow, daily orders will be back online," a Discord announcement posted earlier today reads. I just hopped in a moment ago and I actually do have one already, where there's 16 hours left to kill 100 enemies with an Eagle strafing run. I've confirmed that Helldiver 2 fanatic Harvey has the same one. Judging by the Discord, we're not alone. It might be that they aren't working for everyone, however, or that the current one is still a bit buggy, so you might still want to wait until tomorrow.

Tribes 3: Rivals hits early access next week promising 'rebirth' for the exquisite fusion of skiing fast with a flag and explosive frisbees
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/tribes-3-rivals-hits-early-access-next-week-promising-rebirth-for-the-exquisite-fusion-of-skiing-fast-and-explosive-frisbees/
If you want to know what I think of Tribes, I reviewed the last entry in the series (2012's free-to-play Tribes: Ascend) for Eurogamer and it's one of the few games I've ever given a 10. God that game was good, though, sadly, it didn't quite stick the landing with enough players to survive: Ascend went into that good night in 2016, since when there's been a large Tribes-shaped gap in my collection.
Thing is, there's nothing really like Tribes. It's an FPS, sure, but its particular take on capture the flag (momentum and speed-based plays), unique weapons, and face-blistering pace as you ski-slash-fly through the maps doesn't have even a close equivalent. Tribes 3: Rivals (this is not the third Tribes game: don't ask) aims to bring it all back, and developers Prophecy Games have just announced that, following its excellent NextFest demo, the game will launch in early access on March 12.

The galactic war is something that we understand the broad contours of, but Arrowhead's wisely kept vague about the specifics of how it's working. The most fascinating element of it can probably be summed up in one proper noun: Joel. The mythical game master was revealed to PCG in an interview last week, since when they've acquired meme status among the community. Bad mission? Blew up your mates? Goddamn it, Joel!

A community manager from developer Arrowhead has now spilled a few more beans on the idea behind the game master, and what the studio's hoping it will mean for the game.

The latest market survey is out from Jon Peddie Research and covers the AIB Discrete GPU markets which includes graphics cards. It is reported that the graphics card shipments increased by 6.8% vs the previous quarter and 32% vs the previous year. Starting Q1 2000, a total of 2.3 billion AIB GPUs have been shipped which adds to a total value of $482 Billion.
When it comes to the market share breakdown, AMD was the one to gain +2 points with its share rising to 19% (17% last quarter) which mainly clawed away NVIDIA's share which remains at a dominant position of 80% (82% last quarter). Meanwhile, Intel still holds just 1% market share and that's despite its Arc A770, A750, and A580 lineup being available in the mainstream market at attractive price points.

https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-arrow-lake-series-to-feature-up-to-4-xe-cores-no-hyper-threading-and-ddr4-support
Intel Arrow Lake set to launch by the end of this year, will be Intel’s first top-to-bottom series for desktop, laptops and mobile devices featuring AI-acceleration cores. The move to Arrow Lake for desktop computers also means moving to a new computer platform with a socket called LGA-1851. Chinese leaker Golden Pig Upgrade, who has a good record of leaks from Intel, confirmed that there is no DDR4 memory support.

The post on Bilibili serves as a reminder on Arrow Lake specs, which are more or less set in stone at this point. It is also a response to some of the recent rumors that for some reason suggested Intel is working on 15th Gen Core series, which is not true. Instead, the next-gen client CPU series will likely adopt Core Ultra 200 series naming, or how Intel calls it Second Generation Core Ultra.

The leaker reaffirms that there is no hyper threading support in the Arrow Lake chips, as well that the new CPUs will not have LP (low-power) E(fficient)-Core as found in Meteor Lake chips. There will be a NPU core (Neural Processing Unit) which should offer similar performance to Meteor Lake NPU.
