AMD Ryzen 7 7700 non-X CPU allegedly features 8 cores and 65W TDP

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-ryzen-7-7700-non-x-cpu-allegedly-features-8-cores-and-65w-tdp

Pretty much what AMD needs to do. Imo we need to see 7600 for $230 and 7700 for $330 if not cheaper. Similar to how Ryzen forced the i5 from quad cores to 6 cores and i7s from quad core 8 threads to 8 core 16 threads... Intel is now changing the game this time around. The i5 class is now 14 cores (6P 8E) and i7s are now 16 cores (8P 8E). So Ryzen cpus ironically look like what Intel CPUs used to look like compared to Ryzen. But I don't think we will see this transition from AMD until Zen 5.

There was a rumor last year regarding that possibility, with AMD launching what was assumed as an APU codenamed Strix Point featuring Zen5 and Zen4D cores in a 8+4 configuration.

The reason I put that assumed in the sentence is because, at the time, we didn't know that Zen4 CPUs would feature an iGPU, so people could have assumed that it was an APU because it featured RDNA cores in it.

In any case, that chip wasn't supposed to come until 2024 or 2025, which means that AMD has a lot of time to decide where to use it, desktop or laptop, and if they want to expand it with more Zen4D cores, for example.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Mobile lineup leaks out, RTX 4090 coming to laptops

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-40-mobile-lineup-leaks-out-rtx-4090-coming-to-laptops

Pair that with 13th gen laptop CPUs and you got a laptop with a 2 minute battery

It wouls be an interesting combination. What would last more, the battery or the plastic housing of the laptop?

I'm surprised TV manufacturers haven't completely eaten the lunch of gaming monitor ones by now. I'm seeing 4K 144 Hz TVs with FreeSync and HDR for less than half the price of a similarly specced monitor. They just need smaller screens to go mainstream.

I think that's the problem. Most TV manufacturers don't actually make the panels and the panel companies don't make sizes so small. Only Samsung has recently started to make sizes so small and LG should be doing it next year as well.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

DLSS 3 vs Native side by side

Massive difference imo. 30FPS is awful looking and DLSS boosts the framerate almost 2x. Granted there are hiccups here and there I think smoothness way outweighs the trade off of input lag and minor IQ issues. It'll be interesting to see if AMD can keep up or offer a similar technology because when you have a super demanding title with RT, DLSS 3 could make a world of difference in performance.

Yea I don't think most people will notice much difference between Native and DLSS 3 in terms of image quality in this game. Something like MS flight sim might be more noticeable but its very hard to tell in games like Cyberpunk. I think if they come out with a version that doesn't interpolate the hud elements, it will be near perfect experience for a lot of people in terms of image quality and smoothness.

Yeah, it must be a matter of mass producing panels on the right sizes.

Import taxes and profit margins are also much lower for TVs than monitors over here so things like a QN90B can be surprisingly affordable.

True, the average person playing games probably aren't going to notice much difference other than games appearing a lot smoother than it turned off. And tbh playing on PC with reflex and DLSS 3 turned on, the input lag may turn out similar to consoles. DF did a test before with PS5 vs PC response times

I think this tech would be really well suited for lower end GPU's; to boost to perceivably smoother gameplay. From otherwise unplayable frame rates and slideshow (of sorts). And also super GPU intensive games with RT.

Its not without its issues, and you may or may not want it on depending on the game but it is a nice feature to have. Wonder if AMD have anything up their sleeve feature wise with RDNA 3. We'll find out on the latter soon.

Nice.

If the graphs are accurate, that's 4 million more than one year ago.

AMD’s Fastest Radeon RX 7000 “RDNA 3” Laptop GPU Could Offer RX 6950 XT & RTX 3090 Levels of Performance

https://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-rx-7000-rdna-3-laptop-gpu-offer-rx-6950-xt-rtx-3090-level-gaming-performance/

Pretty crazy performance jump coming

So the mobile RTX 4090 is actually based on the cancelled unlaunched 4080 12GB. Considering that that one already had troubles keeping up with the 3090 in raster on desktop in NVidia's own slides and will need to run with much less power, it looks like AMD could actually have the stronger mobile GPUs this time around if these rumors are true. If the AMD GPU is also consuming less power and not too far behind in raytracing, they could actually gain some market share in mobile, where outside of APUs and mobile workstations AMD GPUs are a very rare sight right now.

The housing, as Intel and NVidia will mandate metal housing and external water cooling for those laptops.
