GeForce RTX 3060 Ti vs. Radeon RX 6700 XT, 50 Game Benchmark

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D Desktop CPU Benchmarks Leak Out, Synthetic Workloads Show Little To No Improvement

Now no one should be looking at this for Synthetic workloads. Gaming performance is what should be interesting.

Update on GeForce Leak

Thread shows what's been correct so far and what we haven't seen be released yet. Obviously the dates were all place holders but there have been many announcements that we saw in the Geforce leak that no one saw coming.

I think the reason the 6700XT is dropping off at higher resolutions is almost all due to Raytracing. This will then probably only get worse with time - unless GPU memory needs go beyond 8GB, at which point the 6700XT has the advantage of coming with 12GB, As Far Cry 4 with the HD texture pack shows.

Also, I was surprised at the minimum FPS in Fortnite, which are pretty abysmal on the GeForce. 79 FPS vs 55 FPS is a pretty huge difference, as this means the game can't hold a stable 60 FPS in 1080p right now. I hope future updates can solve that.

Well there's only like two games where they turned on Ray Tracing and of those two, only Metro has proper Ray Tracing and even then, they put the Ray Tracing setting to normal instead of high or Ultra. The rest is in Raster. The benchmarks are also done with SAM/ReBar enabled so this is the best case for AMD. Far Cry 6 is an AMD sponsored title that we all know is a Vram hog for no reason other than being AMD sponsored title. If it looked visually next gen, then I'd be more so inclined about Vram.

But regardless of which, this is pretty terrible for Radeon. A 6700XT is supposed to be a 3070 competitor, not a 3060 Ti competitor. Yet one year later, it's getting smoked by a 3070 and is barely competitive against a 3060 Ti even when a lot of advantages are given to it. For an architecture that's supposed to be the king of Raster, this is quite disappointing tbh.

Wouldn't the 6800 be the counterpart of the 3070? I mean, they go something like 6900XT vs 3090, 6800XT vs 3080 and 6800 vs 3070, right?

Please excuse my bad English.

Nah because of the price positioning. If the 6800 was a 3070 competitor, then the 6800 would have been priced similarly to a 3070 but instead, the MSRP of the 6800 was $580 vs $500 of the 3070 vs $480 of the 6700XT.

The competitor to a 6800 is a 3070 Ti.

So you get:

3080 for $700
6800XT for $650

3070 Ti for $600
6800 for $580

3070 for $500
6700XT for $480

3060 Ti for $400
6600XT for $380

Think thats the case. Its just weird as AMD counterparts are a tad more costly than Nvidia counterparts. And AMD advertises their large VRAM pool as their USP.

I'm just glad Nvidia is upping their VRAM in their 4K series cards with 12GB VRAM as minimum on the 4060/70 cards - should rumors be true. Especially on the latter 70 series as they're most likely be able to push 4K easily - at least in current gen titles with decent performance.

I mean 10-12GB should be the minimum considering that the consoles (PS5 XSX) have 16GB unified RAM.

Well it logically makes zero sense to compare a 6800 vs 3070... Then what's the purpose of a 3070 Ti? To go up against a 6800XT? And the purpose of a 3080 is to go up against a 6900XT???

No one that's in the 3070 price class is gonna compare a $500 GPU against a $580 GPU. They are gonna compare a $500 GPU against a $480 GPU... Similarly, no one in the 6800 price class GPU is gonna compare a $580 class GPU against a $500 class GPU, they are going to compare a $580 against the $600 GPU...

The 3070Ti, with its 8GB of VRAM, has no purpose at all .
