Tuesday news, part two:

Rider's Republic is free to try for 24 hours starting tomorrow
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/riders-republic-is-free-to-try-for-24-hours-starting-tomorrow/
Ubisoft's multi-disciplinary sports sandbox Rider's Republic will be free to try one more time before its release later this month, with a 24-hour free trial on Ubisoft Connect starting tomorrow morning.
>> That tomorrow was today's morning.

RIP FIFA: EA trademarks EA Sports FC
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/rip-fifa-ea-trademarks-ea-sports-fc/
Last week EA announced, in that insouciant way only mega-corporations can, that maybe it had had enough of paying FIFA, the football world governing body, in order to call its own games FIFA. (...)
Sure enough today comes the news (thanks Polygon) that EA has filed new European trademarks for something called EA Sports FC. These were filed on October 1 with the UK's Intellectual Property Office and the EU's Intellectual Property Office for "computer game software".
>> At least they could have come up with a good name, not that.

Jenga and WarioWare collide in this free game

Jingoku was developed in only 72 hours by indie developer Buried Things for the Ludum Dare 49 game jam, resulting in a bunch of surprisingly polished minigames. In it, you're playing a solo game of virtual Jenga. For each brick you remove, you’ll have a few seconds to complete a WarioWare-style minigame. Your goal is to win as many minigames as possible before your Jenga tower topples. It's a goal I've been reattempting a lot.

Monster Hunter Rise won't support cross-save or crossplay with Nintendo Switch
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/monster-hunter-rise-wont-support-cross-save-or-crossplay-with-nintendo-switch/
Plenty of PC games support cross-save support with their Nintendo Switch versions: you can play, say, Divinity Original Sin 2 on the bus with the handheld, and then access the same save file on Steam later in the evening. But Monster Hunter Rise won't support that functionality when it releases for PC in January.

Explore the haunted fan server of long-dead MMO HitFlesh
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/explore-the-haunted-fan-server-of-long-dead-mmo-hitflesh/
Whether long-dead or still running, private servers for MMOs are always a little bit cursed. Reverse engineering servers causes all manner of obscure issues, and small communities leave once-bustling cities feeling like ghost towns. But in the case of the (definitely real) cult-classic MMO HitFlesh, one fan-run revival seems to be haunted by more than just poor netcode.

Fall Guys dev once thought about Red Light, Green Light—after Squid Game, may 'have another crack'

Developer Mediatonic recently had a booth at EGX (as booth ideas go, giant obstacle courses is a good one), and our colleagues at TechRadar caught up with the game's lead designer Joe Walsh. (...)
Fall Guys now gets new content during themed seasons, and as well as a constant conveyor belt of cosmetics continues to introduce new game modes and ways to play. Walsh returned to the theme of popular TV shows here, picking out a concept used in Squid Game that was once considered but rejected.

Undying is a zombie survival game where you've already been bitten
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/undying-is-a-zombie-survival-game-where-youve-already-been-bitten/
Undying (not to be confused with Clive Barker's Undying) is a zombie survival sim with a twist: There's no hope of survival. As the game begins, a young woman named Anling has already been bitten, and the undead infection is slowly overtaking her. Her task is not to survive—she's not going to, that's a foregone conclusion—but to spend the remaining few days she has left preparing her young son for her passing.

AMD Ryzen CPU’s L3 Latency Performance Fix To Be Resolved By Microsoft Through Windows 11 Update on 19th October, CPPC Driver on 21st

AMD confirms 3D V-Cache Zen3 CPUs are coming early next year, Zen4 later in 2022

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-confirms-3d-v-cache-zen3-cpus-are-coming-early-next-year-zen4-later-in-2022

"Rober Hallock confirmed that AMD will be switching to a new platform next year featuring a new socket with support for DDR5 memory. He also confirmed that the new platform will have cooler compatibility with existing AM4 solutions. While not mentioned directly Hallock is speaking here about the AM5 socket and Zen4 CPUs.

Interestingly, Hallock also responded to the rumors that AMD Zen4 “Raphael” would only support PCIe Gen4. This is a follow-up to leaked chipset diagrams that only listed Gen4 support. He confirmed that the AM5 platform will indeed support PCIe Gen5, just as the Intel 12th Gen Core series codenamed “Alder Lake” which launch next month. It is worth saying though that he did not say Zen4 “Raphael” or Ryzen 6000/7000 specifically."

Here's hoping Zen 4 will.

NVIDIA Ends Game Ready Driver Support for Kepler GeForce 600 & 700 Series GPU Family

Given that the AM4 "platform" launched supporting only PCIe 3.0, with 4.0 coming later with newer CPUs and chipsets, and that he only mentions AM5, I'd expect the worse.

Also, kudos to AMD and MSoft for fixing the problems of Zen with Windows 11 so fast.

I think after a week of using Windows 11, I will be reverting back to Windows 10 for my laptop but keeping Windows 11 on my desktop. The main reason is while my desktop works without any noticeable issues (other than cpu latency that's being fixed), on my laptop, youtube keeps on buffering for some reason... On a 750mbps connection... While in Windows 10, it worked without any issues.

Of course, Windows 11 has a 10 day grace period so if you choose to revert back within that time, it's pretty easy to revert back without needing to reinstall the OS and such.

I've had this problem with my desktop for months now and I can't figure out what's wrong. I've updated all my drivers, deleted my cache, toggled hardware acceleration on and off, nothing seems to help. All my other devices run YouTube just fine but I have to refresh the page 5 fucking times on my best machine for certain videos. It's driving me crazy.

This is on W10 though, not 11.

Yea that is pretty weird. Did you do a fresh install or was it an in-place upgrade to Windows 10 from an older OS?

I honestly don't remember if my desktop was a clean install or an upgrade. I put it together some time ago alongside a couple other improvised rigs.

I'd get a USB flash drive or if you have free space/hard drive and install a second Windows 10 on it and see if there is any difference. If there is, then it's probably a glitch with the way that Windows is installed. But if there isn't any difference, then yea idk but least you can continue to use your OS. You could buy an additional Ethernet adapter that's USB powered or one that slots into your PCI-E slot from amazon and see if that makes any difference. If it does then maybe it's the port at that point or if it doesn't, you can return it.

First Windows 11 Cumulative Update Drops!

https://wccftech.com/first-windows-11-cumulative-update-drops-kb5006674-build-22000-258/

"Addresses known compatibility issues between some Intel “Killer” and “SmartByte” networking software and Windows 11 (original release). Devices with the affected software might drop User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets under certain conditions. This creates performance and other issues for protocols based on UDP. For example, some websites might load slower than others on the affected devices, which might cause videos to stream slower in certain resolutions. VPN solutions based on UDP might also be slower."

Hmmm....

*Installs the new update on his Windows 11 laptop*
*Tests various video sites for a few hours... No more buffering issues or anything like that*

Fine MS, I'll keep using Windows 11 on my laptop lol.
