Tuesday news, part two:

https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/riders-republic-is-free-to-try-for-24-hours-starting-tomorrow/
Ubisoft's multi-disciplinary sports sandbox Rider's Republic will be free to try one more time before its release later this month, with a 24-hour free trial on Ubisoft Connect starting tomorrow morning.
>> That tomorrow was today's morning.

RIP FIFA: EA trademarks EA Sports FC
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/rip-fifa-ea-trademarks-ea-sports-fc/
Last week EA announced, in that insouciant way only mega-corporations can, that maybe it had had enough of paying FIFA, the football world governing body, in order to call its own games FIFA. (...)
Sure enough today comes the news (thanks Polygon) that EA has filed new European trademarks for something called EA Sports FC. These were filed on October 1 with the UK's Intellectual Property Office and the EU's Intellectual Property Office for "computer game software".
>> At least they could have come up with a good name, not that.

Jenga and WarioWare collide in this free game

Jingoku was developed in only 72 hours by indie developer Buried Things for the Ludum Dare 49 game jam, resulting in a bunch of surprisingly polished minigames. In it, you're playing a solo game of virtual Jenga. For each brick you remove, you’ll have a few seconds to complete a WarioWare-style minigame. Your goal is to win as many minigames as possible before your Jenga tower topples. It's a goal I've been reattempting a lot.

Monster Hunter Rise won't support cross-save or crossplay with Nintendo Switch
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/monster-hunter-rise-wont-support-cross-save-or-crossplay-with-nintendo-switch/
Plenty of PC games support cross-save support with their Nintendo Switch versions: you can play, say, Divinity Original Sin 2 on the bus with the handheld, and then access the same save file on Steam later in the evening. But Monster Hunter Rise won't support that functionality when it releases for PC in January.

Explore the haunted fan server of long-dead MMO HitFlesh
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/explore-the-haunted-fan-server-of-long-dead-mmo-hitflesh/
Whether long-dead or still running, private servers for MMOs are always a little bit cursed. Reverse engineering servers causes all manner of obscure issues, and small communities leave once-bustling cities feeling like ghost towns. But in the case of the (definitely real) cult-classic MMO HitFlesh, one fan-run revival seems to be haunted by more than just poor netcode.

Fall Guys dev once thought about Red Light, Green Light—after Squid Game, may 'have another crack'

Developer Mediatonic recently had a booth at EGX (as booth ideas go, giant obstacle courses is a good one), and our colleagues at TechRadar caught up with the game's lead designer Joe Walsh. (...)
Fall Guys now gets new content during themed seasons, and as well as a constant conveyor belt of cosmetics continues to introduce new game modes and ways to play. Walsh returned to the theme of popular TV shows here, picking out a concept used in Squid Game that was once considered but rejected.

Undying is a zombie survival game where you've already been bitten
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/undying-is-a-zombie-survival-game-where-youve-already-been-bitten/
Undying (not to be confused with Clive Barker's Undying) is a zombie survival sim with a twist: There's no hope of survival. As the game begins, a young woman named Anling has already been bitten, and the undead infection is slowly overtaking her. Her task is not to survive—she's not going to, that's a foregone conclusion—but to spend the remaining few days she has left preparing her young son for her passing.
